In the last 6-10 week all my fillings have fallen out. I've just lost the last one -Lupus or Sjogrens?

I did have a dental appointment for last week (the first time I've needed to se a dentist for a problem for 15 years). I had to cancel due to pleurisy/flare.

It's going to cost me a fortune. Does anyone know if I would get anything towards the cost of it, if it is because of an auto immune disease?

I'm falling apart bit by bit.

They have 3 price bands on the NHS. £18ish £48ish and around £200. Fillings come under the £18 category for all of them together. Maybe the next slot if more complicated?

There are three NHS charge bands:
Band 1: £18.50 covers an examination, diagnosis and advice. If necessary, it also includes X-rays, a scale and polish and planning for further treatment.
Band 2: £50.50 covers all treatment covered by Band 1, plus additional treatment, such as fillings, root canal treatment and removing teeth (extractions).
Band 3: £219 covers all treatment covered by Bands 1 and 2, plus more complex procedures, such as crowns, dentures and bridges.

I know that my referral to King's college for complex root canal will cost the same as normal dental charges. I've got chronic health issues to and is just one thing after another isn't it

If you are claiming means tested benefits then you can get pep with the cost.

Have you got Sjögren's syndrome or are you asking if you might have it?

I haven't been diagnosed with it no. I was wondering if it is common in lupus or would it more likely to be secondary sjogrens along side the lupus?

I have eye dryness as well, I was having a routine eye exam at my local eye clinic and the dr there mentioned sjogrens.

I know a bit about Sjögren's syndrome. You can get saliva replacement products - tablets, liquid, gum which can help. I sympathise, dry mouth is very painful

I'm waiting to, hopefully, hear from my consultant this week, I had a pretty scary flare up and my GP has contacted the rheumatology team. I'll mention it to him and try to make another dental appointment.

A number of medications can cause dry mouth too so it might be worth looking into that too

Needed to come in to try to control my lupus flare, I couldn't walk, which was scary.

Feeling better than before but it's taking a while.

What have they said about your teeth/fillings?

Spoke briefly to dr last night who says sjogrens is very possible. The rheumatologist is coming round this morning. Dr said they will do different bloods to check for magnesium calcium deficiency etc.

Will there be any help/support for replacing them (ideally with white rather than amalgam due to your auto-immune issues)

I dont know but I will ask

One needs done qickly as its cutting my tongue

I think they sometimes have dentists that visit in hospitals

Remember not amalgam....(it might cost more but with auto-immunes you should be very careful)

My white one fell out too it did hang on later than the others though.

Well I'm home and none the wiser. Didnt get bloods done because they didn't get round early enough

Feeling a good bit better and prefer to be home as I'm still on steroids.

The blood test for Sjogrens was low so they said it's probably just the Lupus.

I'll make a dentists appointment in the next week for advice.
