Called to see dr day after bloods done

I had bloods taken yesterday at the hospital to investigate possible thyroid issue and also iron levels.
I had a phone call just now from drs receptionist asking me to make an appointment to see the dr this week re the bloods. I asked if there was an issue but was told it was just a follow up. Now I'm worrying as when I saw the dr last week he said the tests could take some time as the specific thyroid test wasn't routinely run so to make an appt for approximately 10 days after bloods were done.
Am I unduly stressing? It seems a bit quick seeing I only had them done yesterday lunchtime..
Backstory is I have a family history of hypothyroidism and my tests last month were borderline so I was having a test to see if I carry some sort of antibody (sorry to be vague I can't remember the exact terminology)
I was also anaemic after my daughters birth in Feb 2013 so my iron levels were being checked also. They were fine a few months ago so don't think that's an issue..,
To cut a long story short am I over thinking this or would they have found something to call me in over being its so quick?
TIA

Maybe he/she just saw the results and decided to get you in as they had an appointment. It could be a minor abnormality.
Results can come in very quickly these days. Ours go electronically into the notes so If I do a blood in the morning the result can be in the notes in the evening.
Sorry that's not much reassurance but hope all ok.

I have had LOADS of blood tests over the past year and they've mostly come back really quickly.....I've had calls like you did and it was just to prescribe iron and discuss getting to the bottom of why I was so anaemic. No biggie.

Thank you both. Will try and put it to the back of my mind til Friday. (Easier said than done Smile)
Part of me is worried but the other half hopeful I may finally have an answer to what is actually wrong with me.

I wouldn't worry - one way to look at it is if they are abnormal then you'll be getting treatment quicker and feeling more human again sooner.

Blood results can be back the next day. If they are out of range then at least they are seeing you quickly.

I have hypothyroidism and am currently anaemic, all after the birth of DS and was started on treatment, it's really helped me feel better.

try not to worry - I have been called to a&e straight after a blood test before. It is probably a follow up as she said perhaps requested by your GP.

Thank you all so much for replying. Smile Really appreciate it.

I have been having bloods done and had a chat about first set of results from doctor. Wouldn't name a blood disorder she doesn't think I have but was waiting on another set. Got letter to go in and discuss the second set. It states 'wemust stress you have nothing to worry about'. They didn't put that in the letter for my first lot so I am really scared too.
