Sugar sensitivity- think I might have it- how do I beat my sugar addiction?

I've got a sweet tooth and have had IBS type symptoms on and off most of my life. Recently my stomach hasn't been that great and i've noticed when I eat refined sugar (or a bowl full of fruit) I instantly get all gassy and bloated and often get loose stools the next day (sorry if tmi!)

I have tried giving up sugar but last about a day if that- I am well and truly addicted. I don't eat tons of junk food or sweet stuff but without fail probably have either some chocolate or cake or something else sweet each day. I'm not sure its worth going to the doctors as they'll probably say I'm reading too much online and it's nothing! Anyone have any advice or similar problems? I guess my first step is to eliminate all processed sugars but even that's a tough one- I guess that means cereals too- even the ones that aren't that sweet have sugar added. And then there's fruit??

I'm not overweight so am also wary of losing too much weight. Last time I did an elimination diet I got too thin.

anyway not sure anyone can help but no harm in trying...
