HI there,

I've posted in pregnancy and conception forums so far. My period is about a week late, have symptoms of pregnancy - but done two tests and both negative. I would love to be pregnant. I am going for blood test next week - both doctor and some of the ladies on the other forums are hopeful: apparently false negatives at this stage are fairly common.

However, I just don't seem to hold out much hope and feel really worried that something is wrong. I did have an incredibly stressful month last month (my mum was very ill ) and I know that this can cause periods to delay or skip - has this happened to anyone out there?

To top it all I just found a succession of things on the web about a link between aspartamene and infertility - I used to drink gallons of the stuff when I was younger, and now that's worrying me as well.

My husband keeps telling me to relax and it's either that I'm pregnant or very stressed out and we'll find out sooner or later for sure, but I now feel like I'm losing my mind. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks so much in advance xxx

Try and hang in there. Your period could simply be late, but false negatives for up to a couple of weeks after your period is due are fairly common, particularly if you ovulated later than you thought you did.
You're unlikely to be infertile due to aspartame consumption - undoubtedly you're not the only one to have drunk a lot of that type of drink. How long have you been ttc?
And your dh is right - you WILL find out sooner or later. The best advice I can give you now is to relax and wait for the outcome.

Only the GP can tell you for sure. FWIW, I had a m/c in July and have been fairly stressed since. I have stopped ovulating altogether because I am so stressed. Things like stress, travel and illness can have a huge impact on your cycle.

I know it's agonising to wait, but the blood tests are a step in the right direction to discovering what is wrong (probably nothing)

And in my experience there is nothing like wanting to get pregnant to mess up your cycle.

Sorry you're feeling so confused and worried.

thanks ladies for your kind words - and sorry to hear that you've both had struggles also...foundintranslation I only came off the pill in july and got first real period bang on 28 days later. I know it's hardly any time at all to be trying but your mind just starts to race somehow....

am going to try to relax over the weekend and hope you have good ones yourselves....many thanks. xxx

Thanks FIT

Try not to worry glittercaz, I've been trying for a year with no success apart from the m/c. It's a long uphill struggle sometimes and trying to relax and take it easy is the best thing you can do (easier said than done, huh?)
