Crown prep and sinus pain - anyone have any ideas?

Hi - I had a tooth prepped for a crown 10 days ago and should be having the proper crown fitted on Monday. Ever since, I've had to take paracetamol and/or Ibuprofen to control the pain. I popped back to the dentist midweek and he said it was just the tooth settling and to wait a few more days. The area around where the temporary is had healed well and there was no sign of infection.

For the last few days I've been getting sinus pain and wonder if the two are related. But I had a cold and sore throat before the initial dental work so it could actually be that this is coincidence. The dentist did say that if the pain continued, he'd do a root canal before fitting the crown, but I don't want to go ahead with that if the toothache is in fact nothing to do with the dental work and is caused by sinusitis - if that makes sense!

Does anyone have any insight? Anything similar happened? Many thanks.
