Go zombie go zombie, tell that cancer whose boss!
Thanks

Lilymaid · 15/06/2014 08:33

Zombie I also have mets. I don't like the fact that my chemo is palliative rather than curative but I am just carrying on as normal, working, socialising etc and hoping to go on for years like this.

OP posts:
malteserzz · 15/06/2014 18:43

More love for zombie and hugs for anyone else who needs them
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, I've been away with dh had a fabulous time Smile

Wren48 · 15/06/2014 20:44

Glad you had a fabulous time away, Malt. It sounds as though you've got this holiday business sussed. Smile

weebarra · 15/06/2014 21:15

Glad you had a good time malt, you deserve it!
I'm back in the bosom of my family - commuting by train for rads this week. Seriously tired now, 6 more days of rads before treatment is done.
Saw physio on Thursday, she's very happy with my progress. If it wasn't for these sodding seromas I'd be almost normal. Gives an insight into what it must be like to have chronic pain.

Lilymaid · 15/06/2014 21:59

Just returned from a work/pleasure trip oop North. Yorkshire Dales stunning and great excitement about the Tour de France - bunting and yellow bikes everywhere. To contrast, the Tour passes along my route to the station for work ... No such excitement down here.
Must remember not to do too many late nights at conferences, putting the world to rights. I'm shattered!

Felt quite emotional as we went to Stratford and the last time we were there last summer it was the last time I went out with my own hair before I had to start wearing my wig.

Wee hope the last 6 days pass quickly for you

Wren thanks :)

IamtheZombie · 16/06/2014 09:31

Four hours to go before they put the cannula in.

Glad you had a fab weekend, malt.

wee, good luck with the last 6 rads. And then with the relief of having those bastard seromas drained.

ZombieHugsâ„¢ to all.

weebarra · 16/06/2014 09:43

Are you all stocked up with nice fruit and stuff zombie? My onc also gave me lorazepam for chemo, was useful for both before and after!
Been dousing myself in moogoo and camomile. Still not sleeping well, not helped by DD being up at 3!

Speedypenguin · 16/06/2014 11:51

Glad you had good times malt and lily.

Wee- hope the next six pass quickly so those seromas can be gone.

Hope it goes well today zombie. Thinking of you.

I know I shouldn't really moan but you would think my body would finally respond to a drug to stop the nausea and general crappiness after four different goes at finding one! Whinge over to go lie down again.

Mummywheel · 16/06/2014 13:53

So glad you are making up for last years lack of holidays malt

Only six to go wee that seems to have gone quickly but maybe not for you. Just wondering when to apply moogoo during radiotherapy. Do you apply it before treatment and after?

Hugs to zombie hope everything goes smoothly today.

Feel for you speedy nothing worse than nausea.

Lots of excitement in our house lily for the Tour de France. DH's favourite sport.

For those who have Herceptine - Do you have bloods tested before each injection?

Hope everyone has a lovely day! x

UKsounding · 16/06/2014 17:58

Mummywheel I didn't need any bloodtests on Herceptin. It doesn't impact the immune system like the chemo drugs, so they don't need to monitor wbc count.

biscuitsandbandages · 16/06/2014 18:12

Just poking my head in to say hello and see if there is room for a little one with some bastard leukaemic cells in their bone marrow?

Mummywheel · 16/06/2014 18:42

Always room for more, welcome biscuits. You have come to the right place for hand holding and support. Pull up a chair and have some Cake and Brew

Mummywheel · 16/06/2014 18:45

Thanks UKsounding I have to have bloods taken a few days before my first Herceptine and hoped it wouldn't be a regular thing as my arm has just about had enough now after chemo Sad

amberlight · 16/06/2014 19:12

Hi Biscuits Smile Plenty of room. And Brew. And sometimes some nifty new research hot off the press/laboratory surfaces. If you so wished, a bit of detail on what you know so far might yield some useful cheery stuff for you. Entirely up to you. Otherwise, welcome!

IamtheZombie · 16/06/2014 19:56

Evening all!

Chemo went like clockwork with absolutey no sign of any of the potential immediate side effects.

Feeling great and relaxing with a large Bombay Sapphire & Tonic with a big wedge of lime.

Chemo nurse prescribed it. No, really she did!! OK. I lie. She actually said I had to behave myself. I think she knows that ain't gonna happen.

Early start in the morning to take the ZombieCats to. The. VET. That's going to be such fun! Not.

ZombieHugsâ„¢ to all.

Wren48 · 16/06/2014 20:15

So glad the first one went well, zombie. Glad you could treat yourself!

Welcome, biscuits. Sorry about the bastard leukaemia cells. This is the
right place for mutual support and for expressing all that stuff that you might not be able to offload elsewhere.

biscuitsandbandages · 16/06/2014 20:42

Thanks all and glad the chemo went well Zombie.

I'm 9 weeks into treatment for T cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, most of which has been an inpatient though I'm home at the moment. I'm ridiculously neutropenic, anaemia, thrmobocytopenic and probably any other aemic you want to add on for good measure.

I'm feeling a bit sick after today's chemo and about to force myself to eat. I've had chemo most days for the last month so just keep plodding on.

From tomorrow I start the off chemo wait for my blood counts to improve enough for the next biopsy to see, hope, pray I'm in remission.

Thanks for the welcome and best wishes to all posters, lurker and occasional thread surfers :-)

weebarra · 16/06/2014 21:03

Lovely (kind of) to see you here biscuits. You'll find us a supportive bunch. Glad it went as well as it could have Zombie.
Went to see the Commonwealth Baton relay through my town today, tbh was less exciting that you might think!

malteserzz · 16/06/2014 21:39

Welcome biscuits though sorry you have to be here. Post about anything, nothing is off limits. Hope you managed to eat something and you get some sleep tonight

Commonwealth baton doesn't sound as exciting as the Olympic one wee !

ConsiderablyBiggerBuns · 16/06/2014 21:55

Hello All, welcome to biscuits, and particular hugs for speedy who seems to have had nausea since Easter and wee and her DD cup seromas.
Had my picc line inserted today. For anyone lurking, yet to go through this it really is painless apart from the local anesthetic sting, even though he had to do it twice as the first vein collapsed. All appointments now complete ahead of start of chemo on Thursday. I have had a total of 14 different treatment related appointments in the last 10 days and now just want to get started with the actual getting me cured bit. I've spent so long at the hospital that the chap on the drinks stand asked if I was staff! Anyway, I hope I feel as chipper as zombie sounds after the treatment on Thursday - a gin and tonic definitely sounds like a good way to celebrate the start of the road to recovery.
Last day physically in work tomorrow, probably until the end of the year, which will be strange, I am intending to continue doing reduced duties remotely but not expecting to actual go into the office.

GemmaTeller · 16/06/2014 22:04

Hi, I'm just popping back in with an update.

Had our chat with the bcn who was really nice and have got dates for pre-op and times for actual op day.

I feel a bit down this week and as I'm normally a positive person this is upsetting me.
I still can't get my head round having such a serious illness and no symptoms.

Anyhoo - have been to Primarni and got two non wired comfort bras, button up pjs, new slippers and a sports water bottle you can have an ice thing in the middle (taking notes of all tips on here!)

I had to tell DSD I don't know yet if I can go to her graduation, this is 18 days after my op - I won't have chemo that quickly will I?

mrsrhodgilbert · 16/06/2014 22:30

Hi Gemma, welcome back. Pleased to hear you have a nice bcn, it certainly helps. Have you been told you need chemo or are you thinking the worst and preparing yourself? I would understand that, I did the same. Would you have far to travel to the graduation? If you can travel comfortably, by car and its not hours away I think you could make it. Just be careful and rest when you can. I can't help with the speed of chemo starting though post surgery, but you may not need it.

Wren48 · 16/06/2014 22:34

Gemma, I think chemo will only start once you're healed from your op. 18 days sounds quick but not out of the question; if there's something important to go to, then the hospital is likely to be sympathetic to a little delay.

Well done with the PICC line, biggerbuns, and so much luck for Thursday. I couldn't imagine a zombie style drink post chemo; I'm the queasy one with a buzzing head.

Sorry that the sickness is still so rough, Speedy. How many more do you have?

Hope the Moogoo and chamomile are doing the trick, Wee.
