We just got home now, my poor little man is knackered and has gone strieght to bed bless him he's only 2 and he's so scared and confused.

They were keeping him in but they said at the last minute he could come home while all his test's are being processed.

He had a fit totally out of the blue it's the second one had, the first one they said was ferible but now its happened again there not so sure. We have to take him for a brain scan and follow up appointments.

I absolutley s*it myself when it happened i called the ambulance and they were so nice about it really looked after us.

He had to have blood tests and he cried loads even though he had 'magic' cream on his hand. All the hospital staff fell in love with him. Ahh bless i love my little man

do you think it could be febrile, has he been running a temperature?

bubble99 · 29/08/2006 19:00

Charlee. Let's hope the results of the scan come through come through soon, so that you know what you're dealing with.

malteser1 · 29/08/2006 19:01

Your little man sounds lovely! Poor you you must be going out of your mind.
My DD has had 4 febrile convulsions in the last 8 months - they are so scary and I really feel for you.
Bear in mind - it might not be epilepsy - try not to build up too much of a 'fear of future' until you know the test results.
And if it is epilepsy kids are resilient little things who are far less upset than us mummies about health matters. He'll roll with the punches like the brave little man he sounds and you'll be wondering how you produced such a little gem.
Will be thinking of you and your little man for the next few days.

No he was fine fit as a fiddle but he was last time he did this last year aswel thats why there investigating it further.

They took his stats several times in the hospital and they were all completley normal. It was so scary after it happened i couldnt wake him up for ages apparently thats normal though.

Charlee - My DD had Just turned 1 when she had a Fit, I took her straight to hospital where she had 2 further convulsion 3 hours apart. They said it was probably a febrile convulsion although she had no temparture (these are temparture related). Anyway, they did blood tests and EG and all came back normal, we were sent home.

Three months later she had another fit, again took her to hospital where she had 2 further fits, again not temparture so they had no choice but to start her on epilim to control the fits. She was on epilim for 2 years and as she was fit free in that time we have weaned her off it. It's been about 6 months since she came off the epilim and I pray she doesn't have another one. I just hope it was one of those things and she has grown out of it.

I know what u mean about it being scary. It's one of scariest things seeing someone, let alone your own child have a seizure.

Hope your little man will be ok. Good luck.

My 9yr old had a fit at school just before the summer holidays, they do not know what caused it as he had been perfectly fit/healthy and did not have a temperature at the time. The doctors have said he may have another one but then again he may not. We just have to hope it was a once off, it doesnt stop me worrying though.

I just wanted to wish you luck with your ds's results and hope everything turns out ok. He sounds a very brave little man
