Calcium deficiency

Does anyone know anything about this? I have recently been told that I am very low in calcium and need to take a supplement. I dont drink milk, and haven't since I was a baby, but I eat cheese and yoghurts and all other foods that contain calcium.

I'd be interested to talk to anyone else who is low in calcium, or has been in the past re symptoms etc. TIA

Green leafy veg are great sources of calcium. So are some seeds, nuts and pulses. There's am issue with the absorbtion of calcium because how much you absorb is more important than how much you eat.

There are better explanations of this on Vegan Society website.

Many soya milks these days have added calcium.

DesperateSCOUSEwife - I've added you to my msn list....

Thanks Spidermama - I am not a vegen, or even a vegetarian! But I will check out that website for info. My GP didnt really tell me anything more other than 'take these pills' and that it could take about a year of supplements to get it back to 'normal'. (I've not taken the pills though...). I couldnt drink soya milk btw!
