Still have pain 18m after birth...

Sex is painful though very rare and I cannot wear a tampon as I can really feel it. DD is now 18m old, really thought thus would have been sorted by now? What's wrong with my vagina?!

Have you spoken with your GP about this? What did they say? If not, I'd ring first thing tomorrow morning and book an appointment. Not pleasant I know but there is loads that can be done. Don't be fobbed off and demand a referral to specialist gynea if necessary.

It depends on your definition of serious. If it's not cleared by now and it's annoying you enough that you are asking the question then it's definitely worth getting checked. It's not nothing but is quiet likely to be something that can be resolved fairly simply by the drs (either GP or a obgyn). Was there anything about the birth that may explain this? It may take a few visits to rule out/in certain things. They will certainly want to take a look and discuss your symptoms. They are likely to do some swabs to rule out infection and take it from there. Don't settle for this as being your 'norm' there is no need and the professionals are there to help. They will not judge you and you are certainly not alone in this - I'm sure some people will be along soon with some stories of their experiences to share with you. Good luck xx

No not necessarily, sorry didn't mean to scare you! What I'm trying to say (admittedly not very eloquently!) is that you don't have to put up with sex and tampons being uncomfortable. By 18 months things should be long back to normal ( or a different kind of normal). I'm not medically trained but maybe a referral to a physio could help or if it's a prolapse can be fixed quite easily. In the meantime have someWineor Brew and keep doing your pelvic floors!

Oh thanks! Hmm, well I had a 3b tear and prolapse after birth, but the prolapse went away of its own accord. I about 10m ago I noticed that I had a weird, finger-like bit of tissue growing at the entrance and went to the GP. She said she didn't think it was anything, and to go back if it changed or I was still worried. At the time she gave me an exam, and said she could feel a 'ridge' inside where I'd torn, so I wonder whether it's something to do with that...

Well .. I had a smear a few months after giving birth it was much more painful.
Sex was uncomfortable (thougg didnt try a lot at all due to tiredness etc)
Baby is 23m and its fine i stopped bf at about 14m but only really started trying again.
It was possibly dryness from the hormones.
If you are still feeding at night your prolactin could be high maybe.
I guess it depends on what you think is wrong as if you had a difficult labour it could be that, the scar tissue.
If it could be dryness try more lubrication
Are your cycles back to normal?
