i know he shouldn't scratch. and i've cut his nails. but he is a nearly 3 year old. and is scratching (i'm using eurax, but can't use it on the ones with open skin).

are there any alternative things i can use to help him? i've called our homeopath but she isn't around atm.

anything i can apply topically?

any vits that help?

also, now that most of the spots seem to have come up (over the last 2 days) is that it? and how long will they take to go?

poor baby.

Piriton syrup is good for chicken pox - it is an antihistamine so will really help. Calamine dabbed on them will help soothe themm- makes a good game as you can count the spots for fun as well

DS had spots for ages - a good few weeks.

I think calpol is good to give as well.

and lots of cool baths

I'm trying to remember which remedy is the chickenpox classic- pulsatilla? chamomilla? maybe not. Will look when I go upstairs (can't yet as ds1 is still awake).

if your ds has a regular constitutional remedy I'd just give a dose of that.....

it shouldn't scar really aged 3- their skin seems to recover really well when little.

i smothered my son in cammomile lotion

we did lots of chamomile/calamine lotion and bicarb of soda in the bath which stops them scratching a bit. Otherwise, calpol if he's feeling hot. Usually about 5 days till spots stop appearing, then 2 weeks or so for them to go. Hope he's better soon - it's a good age to have it!
