for me it is harder when we are away or if we have people to stay. I don't forget about it as such, its just if I am busy I seem to not have the time to stuff myself full of fruit and veg

How about the workers have a nice bowl of fruit on their desk? I used to do that because the office communal bowl was always filled with crap! I filled the communal bowl with mandarins and they came aflocking!

I am having bircher museli again today and estimate its about 5 portions Hows that for slaying the day in half! Overun bircher museli is cereal grains such as oats etc (mines a 5 grain version) then soak it overnight in Yogurt (have seen recipes that soak in juice) then add more yogurt or milk (juice if you want) and lastly put in lots of chopped up fruit.

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/08/2006 08:32

Morning! i had nothing to eat yesterday except a peach and a veggie pizza! Was to busy whisking Ds up to the hospital (see other thread)

Im famished today, im going shopping though so i may munch my way through whatever we buy!

Shiny happy thoughts to all xxxx

Overrun · 30/08/2006 12:51

Hi every one. So far today I have had blackberies and strawberries for breakfast, along with half a grapefruit and a smoothie made up of strawberries, banana and mango juice.
Apple at midday, and for dinner I will have a spinach, cucumber and gem lettuce salad. I will stirfry leeks and mushrooms too. Might roast some peaches for afterwards, if I have time.
As I am off to my exercise class tonight, whoopee!

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/08/2006 20:09

Evening

DS is doing ok today he's finally woken up properly he was really sleepy after his fit but apparently that's normal. Bless him he's been proudly showing people his 'sore' on his hand from where he had his blood taken! He's a proper little man he was so brave
just got to wait for the appointment to come through for his brain scan and the specialist appointment it can take up to 4 weeks

But were all much more relaxed today we went shopping and got all our grocerys from the local farm shop, it was slightly more expensive but it's all fresh local produce and i find it tastes loads better.

I have managed to much my way through the fruit bowl again it seems to be habit forming, but Ds is the same he only ever asks for 'nana's' or 'oyinge's'!

We had leeks in white sauce, boiled minted potato's with salmon for dinner and i had rice pudding with apples in.

I think i have met my 10 again today and i have traipsed the shops again for excersise! I think i may be a fruit and shopping addict

Hope your all well i'm feeling alot more enegetic these day's so think this new lifestyle is doing me good!

Panman · 31/08/2006 12:49

Morning Dahlings!!

Did the black berries last night...v. nice..not had homemade black berries before...tasted 'earthier' than I remember bought ins, and so it should!!

bringing Good Housekeeping veg. quick ref. for receipies to work and buy ingredients at lunch time......

does Heinz cream of tomato soup count? Bet it doesn't. Don't care. Laters.

Overrun · 31/08/2006 13:14

I'm struggling a bit today, run out of fruit again and can't be bothered to go shopping, plus we are away all weekend from midday tomorrow. Have had pomegranate and blueberry juice (two super berries in one drink). And a apple, and dried strawberries in my cereal.
Plan more leeks, mushrooms and salad for tea.

Charleesunnysunsun · 31/08/2006 13:21

Afternoon! I am amking a super duper veggy packed stir fry for dinner and i have once again been feasting on fruit and fruit juice! If apricot filled shreddies count theb i had some of them aswell!

I was awake at 7am this morning talk about energy!

fullmoonfiend · 31/08/2006 13:22

I am finding that when I am peckish, I am craving fruit (though I did make an apple cake yesterday )
Just been shopping so am fully vegandfruited up again for the next week. Am planning home made courgette, spinach, onion and bacon quiche for tea with sald. Prawns with sald for lunch with a choice of srawberries, blackberries, plums, mango, bananas, grapes and apple for pud. It's good this innit?

All this healthy living still isn't giving me enough energy to cope with my boys atm, they are driving me round the twist

fullmoonfiend · 01/09/2006 09:24

3 days ago I was feeling quite sad that the hols are nearly over. But in the past 3 days, they have gone ballistic and I'm afraid I am counting the hours before school starts now . Bananas, oatibix, plums and strawberries for breakfast. Give me strength, dear lord (I have just had to stop a game of cushion archery in my frnt room, during which a full flower vase went flying...''it was an accidnet mum')

Charleesunnysunsun · 01/09/2006 12:27

LOL! I have all those joys yet to come, DS isn't starting playschool until sept i haven;t eve decided which one yet! My sister is however counting the day's before school starts so she can start growing back her hair where she's pulled it out!

Pork and veggie curry for dinner and a ham and salad tortilla for lunch. have had a lovley morning in town with ds parusing the shops

Overrun · 01/09/2006 12:42

Hi and bye!
I am off to Devon for the weekend, not the best timing as ds1 starts nursery on tuesday but its a family reunion/get together.
My dh's oldest sister lives in a commune, so I'm betting (and from past experience) that there will be plenty of healthy food with lots of lovely home grown fruit and veg.
I'll catch up with you all when I get back. This thread is waning a bit, when is our illustrious leader back? It would be such a shame if I started slipping.
Bye for now

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2006 13:16

er

hello

I am back

I always feel so awkward when I have been away for a few days

Charleesunnysunsun · 02/09/2006 13:19

Franny! welcome back we have all missed you dreadfully!

Have you been a good girl keeping up with your 10 a day?????
I will be shocked if i find you haven't!

I have totally gone off meat, think it must be a preggers thing so i am only eating breads/pulses and veggies so im ultra healthy! LOL but seriously anyone know what else contains the proteins meat does so i can make sure im still getting them?

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2006 13:28

Oh Charlee thank you

I am sorry for extended absence, I thought it would only be a couple of days but I have been languishing in RL all week (ruddy hell you don't half get a lot done when you are not on here all day)

Protein: quinoa is a complete protein that contains all the amino acids needed for human health. Seeds such as sunflower and pumpkin are very good also. Nuts? Beans, lentils, eggs and cheese if you eat them.

My conduct has been exemplary as always but I will report in properly later. Where is NQC? Still away?

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2006 21:23

Right here is my report for the day. I have eaten strawberries, pineapple, raisins, grapes, corn on the cob, roasted peppers, green beans, hummus, a clementine, apple and celery today. Which I make 11 portions. Was at the gym for 1 hour 10 (I am starting to like it there )

The arsing power supply is still not 1oo% on my pc so I can see we are going to have to send it back for more repairs which means more RL for me

Comfort me, my disciples (have I in fact got any disciples left, or have you all strayed?)

Beauregard · 02/09/2006 21:26

Hello Franny
Nice to see you back ,have missed seeing your posts

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2006 21:37

Thanks pfnm I often think of your name during the leaping about bit at my gym class, sadly

Charlee, I was thinking about you as well this afternoon and it occurred to me that if you have suddenly stopped eating meat, you may want to include some extra iron-rich foods in your diet. It is not hard to get enough iron on a vegetarian diet, but because you are pregnant you may want to pay extra attention to this - lack of iron will make you very tired. Broccoli, dried apricots and hummus are all good sources of iron. This link may help as well: Vegetarian pregnancy

Morning

Thanks for your gelp re the veggie thing - i managed a beef burger with lots of salad last night i don't want to forsake meat i usually love it but it just feels all gross in my mouth and makes me feel sick IYSWIM? I am trying to keep it sown though.

I have been sticking religiously to my 10 portions of f and v a day mostly fruit, aswell as my healthy supliment of malteasers!

I refuse to excersise outside today its pi**ing down with rain and blowing like a fat man on a treadmill, i am off to sainsburys or tesco then im staying in! I will walk the stairs a few hundred times to make up for it of something

Happy Sunday

FrannyandZooey · 03/09/2006 09:33

Morning all, I have had a big bowl of fruit for breakfast as usual. Am not going to the gym but I am organising entertainment in the park for 60 people later, so I am convinced that will raise my heart rate somewhat.

Charlee have you thought of trying Quorn meat? It is not particularly healthy (a bit processed), but has got protein in and is less greasy and revolting than real meat. The thought of trying to force down a beefburger that you didn't want is making my stomach churn tbh
