cold all the time

I'm really cold most of the time unless I've wrapped up well. It's been like this for a good while now, not sure how long but last winter was pretty bad - I never took my coat off really, not even indoors (as long as nobody else was there to observe this weird habit)).
Today I went to the park with a friend and was absolutely freezing my ar$e off at 21C because I had, somewhat over-enthusiatically, only put a t-shirt on and no jacket.
I'm not thin (sadly), and feel fine apart from this.
Is it just one of those things? I know it can be a symptom of an underactive thyroid, but it's probably not likely to be that in my case as I feel reasonably energetic most of the time. My friend has an underactive thyroid and felt utterly dreadful before it was diagnosed.

I have an underactive thyroid which was diagnosed with no symptoms at all - so you shouldn't rule it out just yet. It's quite possible to have underactive thyroid and not have all (or even any) of the symptoms of it.

Ask the GP to check it out for you anyway - even if only to rule it out so you can look for other causes.

Underactive thyroid affects different people in different ways though geekgrrl, I'd still get it checked. I have a very slim colleague who got very ill with this condition before it was diagnosed as both she and her GP assumed you had to be struggling with your weight.
She was also not hugely lacking in energy although she was getting ill a lot because her immune system was at a low ebb.
Also, were you sure about the actual temp being 21 degrees? Wind chill, damp ground after heavy rain etc can all significantly lower temperature in a localised way. You might just have been freezing that's teeth chattering by the way!

thanks all, I've caved in and made an appointment with the GP for next week.
(Incidentally, i have put on some weight pretty much out of nowhere - 5lbs in 6 weeks )
