Traces of blood in urine and pain in lower left back

Don't know what I have done to my back but I'm I agony in my lower left back and have been since Friday. The pain eases when I sit or lie down.
Yesterday it all got a bit too much and I ended up going to the walk in centre where they tested my urine, which was clear for infection but did contain traces of blood, the nurse said not to worry but I have health anxiety and I can't stop worrying. The nurse said the pain and blood could be due to renal colic but I'm not convinced, i don't have any other symptoms such as pain when or urgency when going to the toilet.
I have done what most people with health anxiety do and consulted dr google who informs me that it could be bladder or renal cancer .
I haven't slept all night.
When I was at the walk in they asked me if I felt tingling in my hands and feet, at the time I didn't but now I feel like I do.
I'm getting stressed out and I'm counting down the hours untill I see my own gp on Tuesday.
I have been on fluoxetine (Prozac) for 12 days and I have no appetite whatsoever and a dry mouth and I feel like utter shite at the minute

so what did the nurse suggeste you do about possibld renal colic? drink lots of water?

Just keep hydrated which I am doing. He is going to send sample to the lab.

Sounds like when I had kidney Infection I was in agony

please don't panic. haematuria (blood in urine) is a reason for a fast track referral and could indicate the presence of something sinister.

but it could also mean a bad uti, a kidney infection or indeed kidney stones. there are many other explanations. google will always give you the worst case scenario.

with those symptoms I would seek advice from OOH

Could you see your GP this week and ask for an ultrasound? It could be kidney stones, which are unbelievably painful but very treatable. In the meantime, you're doing all the right things by keeping well hydrated, and keeping up with the pain relief. I think the fact that the pain changes depending on your posture sounds a lot like kidney stones, but I am not a doctor and obviously they need to do a bit more investigating to find out and to stop your pain. I hope you feel loads better very soon.

I feel your pain. Have no answers though, unfortunately. I was hospitalised beginning of March because I couldn't even move for the pain (I had it in my lower abdomen, which spread to hips and into my back) and my urine had blood in it. They thought it was Kidney Stones and sent me for an ultrasound which was clear. They ended up sending me home with antibiotics with no idea what was wrong basically.

Fast forward to the beginning of this month, and I was doubled up in pain again but not as severe. Saw GP, and again, my urine had blood in it. Sent it off to the lab to check for infection and sent me home yet again with antibiotics but it came back clear. Been away and not had chance to go back yet, but the doc did say they would investigate further if the sample came back clear of infection. Can't even go tomorrow as got someone coming to fix the boiler god knows when!

Go back to your GP and get them to investigate. Write down everything (any symptoms, even if you don't think it is connected) and show them. I found this better when I saw mine, as there were things that I had forgotten previously.

In the meantime, don't Google (if you search broken nail it will probably tell you you're dying of something!) and try not to worry. I know it's easier said than done though.

Sorry you're suffering, have you got a high temperature?
Are you passing your usual amount of urine, is it painful to wee?
Sounds like further investigations are needed.
I hope you can get something to ease the pain. Let us know how you're doing.

So I went to my gp yesterday who said my previous test had mixed growths whatever that means, she said it had probably been contaminated somewhere along the lines.
She got me to do non other sample which also contained traces of blood, this sample has been sent for culture.
She said if there's an infection I will get antibiotics, if not I will be urgently referred to kidney specialist She said she couldn't rule anything out , with my health anxiety my mind has gone into overdrive.
Anyhow I got another phone all yesterday from the male nurse I saw at he walk in on Saturday, he said about the mixed growth and he also said he thinks there is definetly a uti, he also mentioned borderline ,,, not sure what that meant though.
He did put my mind at rest a little. But I am still scared.
Apart from the blood in wee which I can't see and my bad kidney/back I don't have any other symptoms such as temp, burning etc.

You have my sympathy OP , I've just finished 2 weeks antibiotics for infection and blood in urine, the infection seems to have gone but still have the blood (not visible) so am now booked for ultrasound scan in May, I had pain in one side and dull backache and felt washed out,

I had an ultrasound in October for pcos and my kidneys were checked then... Hoping things are still ok

still waiting on test results ...sick of ringing up for them, im hoping that it is an infection and is taking time because it is growing

Try not to worry, I've had blood in my urine as long as I can remember. If it's only a trace then I think it's pretty common. I suffer with HA too so I know what it's like to think the worst x

Results are back and show no sign of an infection , I was hoping it would be an infection.
I am ill thinking if what it could be , I have just had a massive panic attack and started crying uncontrollably.
My kids need me, I'm so scared .
I still have the lower left. Flank pain as well as traces of blood in my urine. My results came back as no further action , I am now awaiting the dr to ring me because the other dr said I would be getting reffered up to the hospital .
I can't concentrate or think straight ...im scared

I understand what you are going through I can be the same.
Make sure you get to speak to a doctor today otherwise you will have a terrible weekend. Explain that you are worried it's something sinister and I'm sure they will put your mind at rest. You really mustn't worry about blood in your urine, it is very common. One thing one learnt about health anxiety is it can make you feel awful, pains, aches, dizziness the lot!

Another dr rang me back yesterday and said there was a normal amount of blood in urine under the microscope and doesn't warrant any furthest investigation.
However on consulting google etc I have read that it needs referred.
I can't get to see my usual dr udon 26 days :(

Google is not your friend!
A trace of blood is nothing to worry about, I've had it for 20 years or more. Maybe another urine test will show nothing? X
