I think I have got an abcess 'down there' its getting really sore and I am dreading going to the gp you would think after having a baby you wouldn't care about showing your bits but I am really embarresed about it.I have got some antibiotics in the house dou you think it would be ok to take them also I have just gotten my period so I can't really go to the docs till it has finished. Is there any alternative or do I have to go to the doctors?

I wouldn't honestly take the antibiotics without seeing a doctor. They might not do any harm but they're not really very likely to be the right ones, either. I think you're just going to have to steel yourself, sorry

Oh, i don't know about taking the antibiotics you already have. Don't they have different antibiotics for different things? So maybe they wouldn't be suitable.
Also, i would be worried about how i come to get the adcess in the first place, infection etc.
Is there no way you could see a lady doctor, make it a bit easier?
Hugs to you, must be very painful.

Hello leander, it might be a bartholin cyst. i had one of these, & there's a previous thread here . do go the doctor, & i wouldn't take the antibiotics without advice either. hope you feel better soon.

It is the 3rd abcess i have had in the last year, the other 2 were behind my ears and i had to have one drained and the other just cleared up on its own.I think it is stress that has caused them the 1st was after my parents were in a serious car accident and the 2nd was after my misscarriage, I think I am just run down .

I've had a bartholomews (?) cyst before, just after having DS2. Don't be embarassed hun, it's just like a car mechanic looking at ur motor to the GP or nurse as they see it all the time.

As hoxtonchick said, it sounds like a bartholin cyst to me too. I had these periodically, and they are painful! I usually soldiered on and waited for them to go away. I finally had one that was so painful that I was limping! I forced myself to go to the doctor (gynecologist). He made a small incision to drain. Not pleasant, but such a relief. I haven't had a problem since, and it's been about 5 years. Good luck.

Sorry to be so graphic but whatever it was it burst last night and the most disgusting bloody/white stuff oozed out,so i squeezed it all out and have been spraying the area with savlon I have made an appointment to see my gp who will hopefully give me antibiotics so it doesn;t get infected.I hope I haven't made anyone feel too sick.
