8-month-old has a cold - are vapourisers any good?

and if the answer is yes, are there any which are particularly good? DD is a poor wee soul at the moment and keeps on waking up every few hours with a stuffed-up nose. i've tried a bowl of hot water with olbas oil but it doesn't last long.
any thoughts?

really soppy answer. i had turned it on, both lights were lit, but i think that i hadn't quite clicked the reservoir back in properly or something. i fiddled about with it this morning and suddenly the element started working and hey bingo we were steam powered. it's great, i'm very glad to have it so thanks to everyone who advised.
And UCM, do your initials stand for Union of Catholic Mothers? cos that's what i think of whenever i see your name...
