13month old not eating, high temp, inflamed throat

13month old dd was happy as larry on friday, then that night i went in to check her and she was on fire. her temp hit 39.6 over the weekend. Went to casualty since she was vomitting up calpol, then told me to alternate calpol and ibuprofen when calm, a total of 7 doses of medication in 24 hours. I have been doing this now since Saturday, but dd has stopped eating.

I also have now stopped eating since full of worry. she is happy in herself, but cannot face a spoon feed, will only take about 21 ozs of milk a day and some water

i have been given antibiotics, but told give it another day before use, because probably viral and therefore ineffective???

My main concern is her not eating. her temp is getting better in that it takes longer for the effects of medication to wear off. she also has teeth coming through and had her MMR 3 weeks ago...any connection?

I am pulling my hear out with worry over lack of food. How long can they not have solids for? should i just give antibiotics anyway? how long should i keep giving calpol and ibuprofen?

I may sound neurotic, but i am also moving house on Friday and with this stress on top i feel like i want to run away and never come back.

She is probably fine without food for now but if I were you I'd phone your doctor's out of hours number. Not to worry you but just to get as much professional help and opinion as you can find.

she doesn't need to eat .. the thing to check is she's taking fluids .. which she is

when you're ill you lose your appetite .. don't worry about it

keep with calpol / ibuprofen to keep fever down / pain relief

keep with antibiotics until finished course

don't know if link to MMR .. but my DD developed pneumonia and was hopitalised 2 weeks after MMR (given at 19 months) .. every doctor stressed that it was nothing to do with jab (I never asked) ... but I didn't believe them .. I think her resistance was lowered fighting 3 artificially introduced diseases at once

I hope things will get better for you, but I agree, get another opinion, don't delay if you are in doubt. Rather be told everything is fine than being sorry later.

It is a worry when they stop eating and seem not to want to drink anything too.
Just one or two things spring to mind:
Are her nappies wet? Even if strong smelling and dark, as long as they are wet and she is drinking (21oz sounds ok) then that is the main thing.
Is she vomiting the milk back? If not then just gradually introduce foods, light simple stuff like fruit or ready breck, toast or bread and butter.
Leave bits and bats around the house in bowls, dry cerial is always a hit with mine.
Actually little ones can go for a few days without much food wise, but this should start to pick up soonish.
She will eat when she is ready, and understandibly doesnt want to with a sore throat.
Keep up with the calpol etc and keep an eye on her throat, if it isnt looking better then give the antibiotics till then just keep up with what you are doing as it sounds like you are doing a great job.

still not having solids and now rash on torso. i think it must be the MMR she has 20 days a go. fever for 3 days and rash kicks in on 4th day, isn't that measles???

should i give antibiotics anyway? whats the harm? back to doctors this afternoon. I am panicking now. what could the rash mean? she is not sentivie to light, and she also has excema which flares up when ill so not sure if just that? still drinking 21oz of milkk a day but nothing else only water and half a fruit pot now and then
