Stomach issues in pregnancy, constipation followed by the other extreme.

Delightful topic.

I have always been a slightly bunged up person, despite having a healthy diet traditionally I will sometimes get a bit constipated but never too much of an issue.

30 weeks pregnant and the last week my body has been doing some dreadful things, namely feeling very blocked up then having a whole afternoon or diarrhoea with cramps, nausea and very uncomfortable. This has now happened for a week, so 2 days of fine, feeling constipated for a few hours then diarrhoea, cramping, feeling dreadful! First issue last Tuesday, then Thursday, then Sunday and now today.

Is this just some weird pregnancy thing or do I need to see a GP.

I did have my gallbladder removed 3 years ago but never had any post surgery issues, in the spirit of not drip feeding. No blood in poo, no actual vomiting, no temperatures, no change in diets, not overweight.

Any advice?

I had this when pregnant with twins. Pregnancy always made me constipated, and I was also picking up tummy bugs from toddler son. I used to use the iron pills to stop the diarrhoea Hmm. My GP and midwife were no help, so thank goodness they were a month early!

The only thing I can advise is a good, consistent breakfast every day, and maybe you should have a word with your GP if you may be having lack of gallbladder related problems - is there a useful website for this?

Thanks Summer, I think it is pregnancy related, so hoping it will sort itself out! I'm either chronically constipated or the baby is squashing my intestines!

Glad I'm not the only one. Pregnancy is so glamorous......

Isn't it just! You have my sympathies. I had the exact same thing in both pregnancies. Was one or the other never just right or normal! Remember on more than one occasion through both feeling particularly bunged up in the morning then going the complete opposite way in the afternoon.
