Hes 2.5 and is constantly demanding drinks atm, he is getting through beaker after beaker and as a consequence he is filling his nappies to leaking point ever hour and a half - 2 hours. Its started leaking in the night too which hasnt happened before.

Should I be worried about how much hes drinking?
Could it be a power thing - demanding drinks = getting them = getting what he wants
Is it just because hes older now?

Hes eating and sleeping normally.

What is he getting to drink? is it just water or squash or milk?

I have a doc's appointment to take DS for a diabetic test tomorrow and constant thirst is one of the classic symptoms, along with passing water frequently, especially at night
tiredness and fatigue
loss of weight
genital itching or recurrent thrush.

But equally could just be a I can do this so I will type situation.

Hope someone else with a bit more knowledge comes along to help.

HAs he always done this or has it come on suddenly?

My ds drinks almost constantly, but he always has done. Its a pain when it comes to nappies, but at least I don't have to worry about his drinking as I do his eating. My sister was exactly the same.

If it is sudden, I would get it checked out. It might be nothing, but it would be worth talking to the dr/HV. What is he drinking? If he is drinking more juice/squash or you've changed brand or type recently it may be a reaction to that, irritating his bladder or something. I know a few people who get it with orange juice and orange squash (anything with oranges in).

Meant to mention that my ds drinks anything between 3-5litres a day depending on how long he is awake for (he's nearly 23 months), though recently its been nearer the 3 litre mark.
