Not normally one to admit when I'm worried, but I am worried

I have an ovarian cyst on one ovary and a mass on the other one. I saw a consultant on 26th Feb and the plan was for me to have Prostap (to put me into menopause) injections for the next 3 mths and then have surgery in Sept.

I had my first Prostap injection on 6th March and wasn't due to see the consultant again until early July. I then had an appointment come through for an MRI. The consultant had mentioned this but hadn't decided if he wanted me to have one or not, and had said he'd speak to the team.

I had the MRI on 11th March and now my next hospital appointment has been bought forward to tomorrow instead of July.

I'm worried that they have seen something bad on the mir. I mean why else would they bring me back in so much sooner than July ? My mum reckons it can't be anything bad else they would have had me in right away, but I just don't know.

Can't help but worry.

Of course you are worrying, so would anybody. But it could just be that with the details of the scan he has revised his diagnosis & is changing the treatment.

Bottom line,forgive me being blunt, is that even if it is the dreaded get it seen & out sooner rather than later.

I hope you get on OK, can you r Mum go with you?

Oh I totally agree, that if it is anything bad, I want to know now and get it sorted. It needs sorting whatever it is as I am in pain daily.

My mum is going with me Smile

Thanks for the luck, unfortunatly it didn't go too well.

The appointment tured out to be with an oncologist, however, he doesn't 'think' I have cancer. I have a significantly high ovarian cancer blood test result but he thinks that my extensive and severe endo is causing that.

He did an internal examination which he said further confirmed his thoughts and then hit me with a bit of a bombshell. I need extensive surgery to remove the endo and my womb, ovaries etc, and they want a bowel surgeon on standby as there is a chance I will need a colostomy bag, and that it has also effected my kidneys.

He wants an endo specialist to do the surgery as he thinks that would give a better outcome than him doing it, as he is a cancer surgeon. They are going to have a meeting about it all and then get back to me, but it's safe to say that my surgery will be far sooner than Sept as originally planned.

I am so sorry to see this news, hopefully they will get a move on with any treatment you require and you can spend the summer months recuperating

OP I have been through exactly what you describe, the mention of a bowel specialist terrified me more than the cancer bit.... Will moody more later but feel free to pm me. In the end they only removed one ovary and I have conceived three times since. No need for bowel specialist to get involved but having to sign to say I was ok for a bag to be attached if necessary was awful. Have had many surgeries due to endo plus Prostap etc but am here to tell the tale. Sometimes I think the docs think they are doing you a favour by telling you the worst case scenario but in actual fact..... We don't want to know! Hope it all goes well for you.....

I know the news could have been worse, but tbh I feel like someone has smacked me hard in the face. I can't concentrate properly.

Goodness me nutcracker scary stuff, thank goodness whatever it is has been detected. Dont even think about needing a colostomy, its worse case scenario stuff, look forward to no more endo pain! Thanks Brew Wine

Hi, I've had everything you mentioned done. Even down to the bowel doctor being in standby. I'm all ok only slight damage was down to my bladder but nothing serious just have to cross my legs when I sneeze :) if you want someone to chat to feel free to pm me. Hope your start feeling better soon .

Thanks to those who have posted with their experiences. It helps to know that others have had similar done and been ok.

I had a call from the hospital today. They have decided that an endo specialist will do my surgery, not the gynae oncologist, as he is as sure as he can be that it's not cancer.

I am going to meet my surgeon on monday morning and possibly have my pre-op too.
