*sat not day

GnomeDePlume · 20/05/2014 13:06

I'm starting to worry that a little learning is a dangerous thing. Letter from haematologist has gone to gyneacologist. I spoke to the secretary and asked what was in the letter. Having thought it was fibroids apparently the problem is something to do with my ovaries. Absolutely no idea what that means.

I'm 47 with no PCOS symptoms (apart from being hugely overweight). So what else is there?

notapizzaeater · 20/05/2014 13:47

I've no pcos symptoms either apart from the weight thing, but the doctor has told me I've got it.

Shewhowines · 20/05/2014 14:01

annie if you are still bleeding and have cramps get yourself to a doctor pronto. Better safe than sorry. You don't want an infection if you have overdone it a bit. 33lbs dies sound a lot.

Sorry can't help on on pcos front.

AnnieIncognito · 20/05/2014 14:26

I called my surgeon's office and spoke to a nurse. She is going to try to speak to my surgeon between his appointments and will give me a call back. The bleeding has slowed down but I still have cramps and just generally feeling pretty rough.

notapizzaeater · 20/05/2014 14:27

Have you took your temperature to see if you could have an infection ?

Shewhowines · 20/05/2014 14:48

Good. Hopefully he'll say it is fine but you've done the right thing getting it checked out.

AnnieIncognito · 20/05/2014 14:58

Just took my temperature and it's normal. Still waiting to hear from the nurse.

marymoocow · 20/05/2014 21:20

Annie, how are you?

No advice Gnome, but try not to worry. And keep away from Dr Google; that way madness lies!

Finally found WiFi strong enough to post

Op successful, but lasted longer than planned, both ovaries have also been removed due to endometriosis. Had some issues on recovery so was off Ward for 6 hrs.

All seems to be healing, but please don't underestimate the swelling and pain.

Shewhowines · 21/05/2014 21:50

Great that you are healing. Its a very speedy recovery for the first few days so tomorrow will be better and so on. Thanks

annie how are you?

LackaDAISYcal · 21/05/2014 22:08

Good news Jenny; sending healing vibes Flowers

Hi all I've finally made it back on here.

Had my op last Friday and in the run-up was too busy overorganising everything (dc's, dh, school run, precooking etc) that I didn't find time for mn. Hope everybody is keeping ok. Haven't got enough focus yet to take all the info in the thread in ;). Finding that very strange as I'm feeling alert, but as soon as I try read anything a bit more complex than a magazine article (paragraph by paragraph) my brain goes 'pfffffffft'. DH thinks it's hilarious and is 'laughing with me'... yeah right LOL

Hospital said I could go home on the Sunday! but I dug in and said I'll stay another night, thank you very much... I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy with vage evac so hoping for a swifter recovery.

The good news or is it bad news?... I didn't have endo... so no hormone treatments for me yeah! Though it's a bit concerning when the surgeon comes in after, wondering what happened during my pregnancies/deliveries (uneventful/emergency C-section/planned c-section), as my womb was so far back and down she had to go 'look for it'. What didn't help was that bladder and womb were totally stuck together. Though that might account for some of the pains.

Not feeling too bad I think, besides that my nether region feels like I've just done a marathon bike ride on the world's most uncomfortable bike saddle... anybody else has those pains/heaviness? And if so, how long did it take? I'm assuming it's bruising from everything being shoved around but argh it's uncomfortable.

Back to lying on the couch now, as I find sitting up right for too long makes me feel more uncomfortable. :)

gingeme · 22/05/2014 09:10

MrsbigD so glad your surgery went well. Can I ask about your endometriosis? Or not. Why havent you got hormone treatment ? It turns out I don't have it after all so does that mean I won't have hormone treatment either ? I've already been told by my gynecologist I won't have my ovaries removed !!

LackaDAISYcal · 22/05/2014 10:22

Speedy recovery vibes MrsBigD and good news that it wasn't endo. I assume your ovaries have been left?

I overdid things on Day 5 so put myself back a bit, but I started to feel less draggy/heavy after about 10-12 days and more human around the three weeks mark and was driving very short distances then too.

One thing I have noticed is that my leaking issues have changed for the better. Still not 100% better, but much improved. My pelvic floor os horribly weak though so am trying to remember my pfes.

Oh, and we took the remodelled/cervix-less vag out for it's first test drive last night. All seems to be in good working order Blush

marymoocow · 22/05/2014 10:32

thank you for your good wishes. Op went well. varies have been left. Sitting out of bed, but not for long I fear.

marymoocow · 22/05/2014 10:32

should say ovaries Grin

MrsBigD · 22/05/2014 10:32

LackaDaisycal ROFL re remodelled test drive Grin. I've had various ladies tell me that life is still quite nice without a womb/cervix Grin Blush

I'm lucky in that my pelvic floor is superb, though I've been told by the nurses not to do any pf exercises until after 5 week check with doc.

gingeme the way my doc explained it is that, as she was going to preserve my ovaries (unless something presented itself when having a look at them), endometriosis in the abdominal cavity would still react to the hormone fluctuations and I'd have to take progesterone to manage it. As she didn't find any endo, I won't need hormones :)

Oh and just got my first bill in... for the anaesthesia AUD1,232 ... now waiting for the surgeon and the assistant surgeon and any other 'incidentals'... and then to burn the credit card Hmm
