Marina is going into hospital tomorrow for a procedure to sort out something that has been troubling her. But there are troubles around it - she has had some very terrible experiences in hospital before, and as all of us would feel, is anxious.

She is a top MN-er for supporting peolple feeling a little shaky - lets giver her a big Mn 'get well soon' send off!

Be safe and well Marina, and come back soon.

Hope your op went well, Marina

Marina · 17/08/2006 19:46

Oh Blu and everyone else, thank you all so much!
It was supposed to be a day procedure but being an Unlucky Alf sort of character where obs and gynae are concerned I took a suitcase (full of chocolate and dettox wipes).
Unbelievably at 43 and with 2 c-sections behind me this was my first ever general anaesthetic and I think it was that scaring me witless more than the procedure per se.
Anyway, everyone was very nice, the procedure went well (no endometrial polyp found, perhaps it did a cod and went and hid in my pouch of douglas ) and I am now back home in the shouty ketchup-stained bosom of my family.
Beety ! I was offered a hospital cheese sandwich, make of that what you will
I've had several nice CATs as well - alerting me to the existence of this thread - so thanks to those kind folk too.
What I had done today was small beer compared to what Mners all over are living with longer term, so I now feel thoroughly shifty about having been so terrified .
You're all really kind. Thank you XXXX
PS robinpud, lovely squares safely received, and littlefish - I even managed half a one waiting for the balloon to go up this morning.

foxinsocks · 17/08/2006 19:47

Pleased that all went well & you are now happily back with your ketchupy family! A general takes it out of you, so make sure you take it easy for a few days.

Marina · 17/08/2006 19:59

I do feel completely sandbagged bugsy, it's a bizarre feeling isn't it. but otherwise OK

Blu · 17/08/2006 20:02

Phew! Brilliant to hear that you are safe and well and back home. I was just about to text you and check!

Don't forget to languish around a bit (perhaps on your couch of douglas) demanding convalescent chocs and rioja etc.

Love to you and all your family xxxxxxx

Wilbur · 17/08/2006 20:09

Only just seen this - glad everything went well, Marina. And hope you can get some rest to get over the GA.

Bugsy2 · 17/08/2006 20:15

I just couldn't stay awake after my general. Kept drifting off, but found it hard to work out if I was sleeping or dreaming. Had the most bizarre & vivid dreams too.

sunchowder · 17/08/2006 20:24

Here here! Glad to see you made it through--you might not be yourself for a few days as it works its way though your system. Try to relax this weekend if you are able to!

Jimjams2 · 17/08/2006 20:40

glad it all went well, and I am terrified of GA's (had 2 which were fine so not sure why), so can sympathise with that. Glad its all over.

tigermoth · 17/08/2006 20:43

So glad it went well marina - lol @ketchupstained shouty family sounds like mine. Missed this thread last night -sorry I am late posting on it.

Offer still stands for the weekend if you need some extra rest. Me and T have the house to ourselves while the other ketchup stained members of the family shout a lot at the Oval cricket ground.

too at beetroot's hospital's choice of menu.

motherinferior · 17/08/2006 20:49

Honey, I'm so glad you're OK. Get them to be nice to you chez Marina.

robinpud · 17/08/2006 22:07

Glad to hear you are home safely Marina and not too traumatised. Glad my paltry offerings arrived safely! Off on holiday now so take care!

UrsulatheSeawitch · 17/08/2006 22:09

Great to hear you are safely home, Marina.

GAs are horrid, do rest as much as poss until its out of your system (and out of your nose)

love from Janx

PS More at beety's loss of kidney than restaurant menu afterwards

saadia · 17/08/2006 22:12

I've just seen this, glad it all went OK marina hope you're feeling back to normal very soon.

Prufrock · 17/08/2006 22:16

So glad you are out and it all went Ok Marina. Do make sure you actualy rest and get yourself better.

Cam · 17/08/2006 22:20

Hi Marina, glad everything went well

GA hangs around in your system for days so you will be tired.

Beety's post has reminded me that when I gave birth to dd just before hospital lunchtime they offered me steak & kidney for lunch.

Was it having the placenta removed cos it didn't come out by itself that made me say no?

Take it easy, xxxxxxx

threelittlebabies · 17/08/2006 22:50

Marina, really glad to hear you are ok xxx

Pixiefish · 17/08/2006 22:51
