floating they are still a brick if you are a petite person like myself

the teen ones are like fanny liners

as for the wipes manufacturers are insulting our intelligence re our personal hygeine with those wipe things
dont they think we can wash our minges or what

oliveoil · 17/08/2006 13:09

now how come you could like and I couldn't???

pah

Northerner · 17/08/2006 13:11

I hate ST's and hated having to use them post partum, agree they are much better then the surf boards I used as a teenager.

Couldn't wait to use tampons again, but did notice it took a while for them to be 'secure' IYKWIM, a wee or a cough would send it sliding out! Sorry if TMI but I did have a torn fanjo and episiotomy in my defense!

haha floating why dont they wash or something to be so self-conscious

joke btw

Tatties · 17/08/2006 13:48

That's a really good article. Mooncups rock.

JessaJam · 17/08/2006 13:53

the wings are to stop the pad 'bunching' in the middle as it is 'squeezed' when you move/walk and therefore they shoudl stop 'marks' on the edges of your knickers....

Haven't used tampons since ds born...tried...really uncomfortable...
use towels (including a reuseable cloth one wihich is actually by far the most comfy) working self up to mooncup!

JessaJam · 17/08/2006 13:54

can I just a add a huge "WTF" about scented tampons? Thank you

Tatties · 17/08/2006 14:00

JessaSam, totally agree on the scented tampons What are they thinking?
It took me 3 periods after having ds to pluck up the courage to try the mooncup, got so sick of towels after previously using tampons. Mooncup much better than both imo.

TheLadyVanishes · 17/08/2006 14:04

have to say since having dd I'm reluctant to use tampons or the mooncup, think i'm squeamish about it daft eh? I prefer always ultra and carefree pantyliners (thin ones tho)

TheLadyVanishes · 17/08/2006 14:05

scented tampons?? is someone meant to be sniffing down there like

expatinscotland · 17/08/2006 14:14

Horrible for the environment.

And having all that synthetic crap right up against your minge. Sounds like thrush waiting to happen.

YUK.

mcmum · 17/08/2006 14:44

was feeling low today but read this thread and pmsl ! to give you a giggle im allergic to sanitary towels well was till found one without latex ! had to use gauze stuff for a while. thanks for cheering me up

Bozza · 17/08/2006 14:49

Did you read the bit about the virtue of a mooncup being extolled on "chatrooms"?

Think they are great but still pissed off that mine has been known to fill and leak in 20 minutes.

lazycow · 17/08/2006 14:52

I haven't used tampons for many years - way before ds was born. They used to make the unbearable period cramps worse and always leaked. I use ST's instead. I have tried the mooncup but have already posted about my traumatic experience with that so will not be going there again.

St's for me I'm afraid though I would prefer not to have to use anything.

meysey · 17/08/2006 15:42

only use ST's if desperate (e.g. post-partum). the newer slimmer ones are plasticcy, sticky, and get stinky as they are not breathable.... the old fashioned ones are cooler, but make you walk funny.

foxinsocks · 17/08/2006 15:52

Always do these great night time pads (have heavy periods so use tampons + pads together) - they honestly make you look like you are wearing a nappy!

Mercy · 17/08/2006 16:25

LOL at this thread! Actually when I saw the 'Mooncups, aren't they great?' thread I was very tempted to start a 'Tampons, aren't they great?' one!

Personally it's tampons all the way for me. Plus a towel for overnight as my periods are now getting heavier.

I hate ones with wings, they get stuck to my pubes.

DumbledoresGirl · 17/08/2006 16:38

Quote from Expat: You'll shove a man's cock up you, but not a tampon?

Thanks for that Expat! As delicate as always!

All of you who are so keen on STs, I can only conclude you were not menstruating when towels had loops on either end and you wore a sanitary belt (I shudder at the very words) to attach the towels too. It was so uncomfortable and so ineffectual (always wandering away from where is should be and causing blood to go everywhere) Yeuch!

LucyJones · 17/08/2006 16:40

Am I the only one who has to use a tampon and a sanitary towel? I don't feel 'safe' if I don't!!

DumbledoresGirl · 17/08/2006 16:41

Mercy has just admitted to it Lucy, and I do on ne or two nights a month - just to be sure.

Tatties · 17/08/2006 18:25

The thing is though Mercy, when you have tried a Mooncup and it works, you want to shout it from the rooftops! Well I did

NomDePlume · 17/08/2006 18:26

Sanitary towels are grimola.

CheesyFeet · 17/08/2006 18:53

Sanitary towels - yuck. I love my mooncup

Blandmum · 17/08/2006 18:55

much prefer tampons myself.

That said the towels you get now are a massive improvement on the ones I used in the 70s when I was a gal. Bloody massive things that were more like matresses. The modern ones are so much better
