My FIL has taken it upon himself to try to give my ds coldsores. He's just kissed him on the lips with a stonking great sore. I'm fuming...
If my ds has been infected, how soon will I know?
And why would he do that???

if infected he prob would not get a sore until his immunity was low - eg. when he had a cold coming.

Sorry to hear that eclipse. Same thing happened to my boy: someone with an active coldsore kissed him on the mouth. I couldn't believe it. I saw it happening in slow motion, unable to do anything about it.

In my son's case he got one within a few weeks.

When something similar happened to me, I didn't get a coldsore for a few months--I suspect they came up when my immunity was low, as shaz says.

I keep getting slow motion replays too, Medea. I couldn't believe he would kiss him and so said nothing and then it was too late. I'm still breatfeeding my ds so desperately hoping we got away with it.

my dp and son get cold sores, i've never 'caught' one off them

Just to add, I got my 1st when I was about 16; no idea when or where or who I caught it from!

DH has never caught them from me, we do kiss but not full on snogging if I have one!
