no it doesn't hurt, which tooth is it?

It's the third from the back on the top.
It is heavily filled with attractive amalgam(SP?) and one side of it cracked and broke off when I crunched on a rock hard choc chip in mint choc chip ice cream.
I have an appt on thurs ,but am going away for a week on saturday so need something temp I think.

you'll probably get a temporary crown while they make the porcelain one

I had a root canal last week and will be returning for a crown in a few moths. The root canal didn't hurt. I think you won't feel the crown if you get some nice drugs (i.e. lidocaine).
