I have a friend who's just found out her dad has hepC and has had it for the last 25+ years. There is a ? if she and her mum have it now. She can't get tested until friday so is very worried.

I was under the impression that things like Hep C were checked for during pregnancy or at least with blood tests/liver function blood tests? Am I right? If this is the case then she would be clear?

No, they check for HIV, but not hep C.

My aunt has had it for 30+ years. She got it from a blood transfusion in 1972.

It didn't affect her till she was in her mid-50s.
