Cannabis for aches.......

misdee · 03/08/2006 18:21

no, i am not smoking it. i used to, and i used to spend evenings painfree. the pains are getting worse, especially at 'time of the month' today i feel achey all over, my joints(haha) feel heavy and full of lead.

but my goodness, if i was child-free i would have a smoke tonight. instead i will take some strong piankillers and spend tonight in a murky haze.

I used to smoke it all the time, it made me horny rather than anything else though. I used to smoke it more when AF was around cause it rally seemed to ease the aches.

I stopped smoking it though when I realised that I was spending all evening smoking it and watching beavis and butthead (which suddenly became sooooo funny!) and was sleeping all day (pre kids) I had no energy or motervation to do anything. And couldnt be bothered with it anymore.

Occassionally smopke it if i am staying with friends for a night but it doesnt seem to have the same affect anymore, it just makes me kind of, not with it iyswim.

misdee · 03/08/2006 18:31

i dont want to get seriously stoned, just want these aches to go away without knowcking myself out on strong painkillers.

one small joint.......

but am breastfeeding still, and feel guilty taking conventional meds.

I always found that solids didnt have the pain relieiving affect that the green crumbly stuff does. Dont know what the difference between them is though

misdee · 03/08/2006 18:35

resin is too plasticy. gives me a headache.

i am going to get slated for this thread arent i?

sometimes i see my dad in so much pain, and i think, some cannabis will give him relief, instead he gets spaced on strong painkillers and goes to bed all day as he is in agony. its possible i have the same condition as him, and i dont want to end up like that.

misdee · 03/08/2006 18:36

What condition does your dad have if you dont mind me asking?

Have you considered herbal remedys? Dont know much about them but some people swear by them.

misdee · 03/08/2006 18:38

he has spondolysis(sp??)

my docs note actually say i have cervical spondlysis, but they forgot to inform me, so am unsure.

Does it effect your breatsmilk though ?? Honestly don't know.

If it doesn't then I'd say go ahead.

Used to smoke it as a teenager, but haven't for yeas and years. If it's good for stress then I'll join you

odd · 03/08/2006 18:39

weed is a herbal remedy Tamba

personally I would smoke a joint over having to take painkillers every day

southeastastra · 03/08/2006 18:40

it should be available in a medicinal form

misdee · 03/08/2006 18:41

exactly odd, thats how i feel. i was on codeine with my pregnancy with dd2. and i stupidly looked up the effect on unborn babies, they said she may go through withdrawal afterbirth. i was terrified. she seemed fine tho. but its not something i'd want to go through again.

I found it used to leave me really lethargic though, and it made me fat cause I would get the munchies

Also I got very put off once when the police turned up at my house whilst we were cutting up an ounce we had just bought (was between 5 of us) we were all taking the piss saying 'ooooooh look theres a police man' when all of a sudden they really were there! loads in the back garden and loads coming through the front, we quicky shoved the tray under the sofa and smiled sweetly whilst hopingt hey didnt recognise the smell.... they were after the guy upstairs though (we lived in an converted house) and just wanted to check he wasnt hiding in my flat. Gave me a shock though, so never did it again! (well not in amounts that big!)

odd · 03/08/2006 18:49

that is a good reason for paranoia tamba!

it was available medicinally in California until recently - I have researched it online abit, but there are no really conclusive studies. The fact it is illegal puts alot more negative coverage on it imo, especially if you look at the amount of alcohol society consumes.

misdee · 03/08/2006 18:49

i dont like alcohol, makes me hungover. cannabis just gives me a touch of fuzzy tongue in the mornings lol.

OP posts:
odd · 03/08/2006 18:50

Alcohol has been given the big thumbs down recently even in small amounts. Not sure how much of that is PC safety coverage for the beverage companies or not! Have not read about that.

odd · 03/08/2006 18:53

alcohol is not often drunk in this house and dh hardly ever drinks.

Charlee · 03/08/2006 19:05

I would still smoke a joint in the evening if i didnt have DS, i stopped smoking all together when i found out i was pg and i hate smoking in the same house as kids so i didnt start again, i do miss it some days though especially after a stressfull day or like misdee when im in pain with my lupus.

Carmenere · 03/08/2006 19:15

My bf has MS and her doc told her that smoking the odd joint would help and it does. It should be prescribed imo, very good for arthritic pains aswell afaik.

Charlee · 03/08/2006 19:16

I know a few people with MS who say it really does help better than painkillers. I think they probably will put it on prescription one day.

I have never tried it, and have always wanted too... I know DH wouldn't approve of me trying. Wouldn't even know where to get it.

All I know is that right now I would give anything to stop aching.

misdee · 03/08/2006 22:02

FS me too.

Flamesparrow · 03/08/2006 22:13

I keep thinking about this thread. Have had painnkillers and wine this evening and the aching hasn't dulled in the slightest.

I think my aches are just down to 2 small children, and not enough sleep.

misdee · 03/08/2006 22:14

i'll share a virtual joint with you
