Hello All - just catching up with everything, apologies for what I am sure is going to be a mammoth post.

Really - {{{Hugs}}}, sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time. I hope you are being well look after in hospital, (hopefully you have had a change in nursing staff), and are resting.

Goodness - Good news on your results IYNWIM. (None of it is good really, but at least it wasn't worst case scenario.) Enjoy getting out and about today, it has no doubt been a long week.

Harriet - Great news on your results too. No one wants BC and treatment is certainly no walk in the park, but the outlook for DCIS is great. It's a shame they didn't get clear margins, but it sounds like it may have made up your mind for you to go for the mx. Good Luck with the next op.

UK Sounding - Lovely to hear from you, I had been wondering how you were getting on. Pleased the world looks like a brighter place a year on - it seems such a way off for me, the dark days and nights seem endless at the moment.

Hope going back to work goes well for KitKat and Betsy. Betsy, don't forget your hat, and a extra hand to hang on to it! The weather is awful at the moment.

Good Luck to Foo for her op, Difficult for her chemo and Malt for her rads - will be another big step ticked off on the treatment plan.

Malt - Do they really tattoo you? Is it there forever?

Wren - sorry to hear that you are suffering. Chemo wipes me out for the week after too, so you are not alone on that front. It is definitely emotional too, I have spent most of this week in tears for one reason or another. The good news is that you have got one round out of the way and you will probably find that you have two good weeks before the next round.

Welcome to Goodbits, Mona and Chatelaine, sorry you find yourself here, but we are good for Cake and hand-holding!

I have been having a bit of a difficult time coping, I won't bore you all with it all. I have enjoyed catching up and the distraction of writing this post.

reallyreallyworried · 09/02/2014 16:57

Fingers crossed that internet holds out....

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for thinking about me, its definitely kept me going! I had a rough night last night Sad and am stuck here for another night. Feeling very emotional and SE's of Tax now kicking in, so feeling very sorry for myself!

Haven't been able to reply to yr posts. But good luck to all of you having treatment or surgery this week. Sorry I can't keep up with whose having what! But am thinking about you all. Xxxxxxx

kitkat1967 · 09/02/2014 17:27

hello Really - great to hear from you. Night time in hospital is awful and if you haven't got your own room there's minimal chance of sleep so it's a real pain that you have to face another night. Just focus on getting home to your own bed tomorrow. Make sure you are getting all the painkillers you need for the Tax SEs (I remember you really suffered with them last time) - make the most of being in hospital and take everything on offer Grin.

Wren48 · 09/02/2014 18:36

Good to hear from you, really, and hope that tonight is better than last and that they sort it all for you.

Sorry to hear you're having it so tough at the moment, tiny, but I'm grateful for your thoughts on rough chemo starts, and ((hugs)) for getting through this patch.

And mom, I take hope from your comment that your first chemo was the worst. It's evening number 3 now and I'm definitely not so bad, as you suggest.

Two more friends of ds1 have just turned up. DH has no idea who they are (he can never remember faces), but at some point we're going to have to have the what-time-you-all-go-home conversation. For some reason ds hadn't addressed this little detail...

Tiny100 · 09/02/2014 19:23

Thanks Wren. I think you will find if you suffer from sickness then the EC/FEC will be the most difficult part of the regime. If you don't have any sickness, which some don't, then Tax seems to be tough part.

Good Luck with getting the teenagers home at a reasonable hour. It is a school night, so you have a good excuse!

M0naLisa · 09/02/2014 20:55

Ok I have a question. Today my left nipple has been sort of normal! But flat. Not inverted. Right Now it's sort of inverted.

worriedsick100 · 09/02/2014 22:20

Good luck to all those going back to work this week x

foofooyeah · 10/02/2014 05:35

Wow tiny well done on mentioning so any people in your post ..... I read everyone's post and empathise or laugh at the comments. But could not recall all names to make comments. Goldfish brain.

Just getting my stuff ready for the hospital .... Still pretty calm. Got nice new nighties and knickers soi am ready for anything.

kitkat1967 · 10/02/2014 07:56

I was astonished how Tiny managed to list so much in her post - clearly no chemo brain there!!

I'm up, showered, dressed and ready to work Shock - very wierd not going back to bed when the kids left for school but feels good Smile.

Good luck with Rads Malt and good luck for hospital(s) foo - new knickers and nighties is always good!!

malteserzz · 10/02/2014 07:59

problemchimp · 10/02/2014 08:13

Good luck today foofoo - may your painkillers be strong and your recovery swift!

Wren48 · 10/02/2014 08:14

Good luck to the workers today, Kitkat and Betsy.

Good luck for the afternoon, Malt.

Good luck with the operation, Foo.

MonaLisa, I don't really know about the changes in the nipple, but it sounds as though you are worried and the sooner you can get to a GP to check it out, the better. Do you have an appointment?

difficultpickle · 10/02/2014 08:35

Day not started well. Supposed to be having a Hickman line put in today. I thought I'd be prudent and call the hospital to find out whether I can have breakfast (no one has told me anything). 30 minutes on the phone being passed from dept to dept and the dept I am supposed to go to have said they don't do that procedure. Now I don't know whether I can have breakfast or where I'm supposed to go. Not at all impressed and wondering whether I should be having a rethink and gong to the London hospital for chemo instead. I have to leave in 10 minutes to get there for 10am as flooding means a long detour. Arrghh!!

difficultpickle · 10/02/2014 08:41

Good luck to everyone back at work today. Today is my first day of not working, which seems weird.

Wren48 · 10/02/2014 09:00

Oh blimey, Pickle, what an absolute typical shambolic pain for you. I really hope you find someone who talks sense quickly.

Wren48 · 10/02/2014 09:05

Pickle, the only info I can find is an nhs Wales info leaflet that says that it's ok to eat beforehand; it's local, not general anaesthetic, it seems, so that should be ok.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 10/02/2014 10:04

Wren how are you feeling today, has the worst passed? I hope you make parents evening this evening.

malteserzz · 10/02/2014 10:42

Oh pickle you don't need that at all :( hope you got some answers in the end and got there ok in the floods

Just watched call the midwife, I liked the quote ' carry on living till you feel alive again ' think that's quite apt for a lot of us.

Wren48 · 10/02/2014 11:31

mom, I'm on the mend, I think/ hope. Just walked round the block (with a lot of grim determination). Really quite dizzy quite quickly, though. Having second thoughts about parents' evening. Ds1 did badly in some of his mock GCSEs. Certainly not helped by my illness and my being in hospital through that critical revision period, but I might leave DH to brave cross teachers! Wink

malt, I like the quote!

difficultpickle · 10/02/2014 14:10

malt I love that quote.

Line fitted but bleeding won't stop. I've mentione it but unfortunately I'm in the same incompetent bit I was for my blood transfusion so all they've done is say 'that's a lot of blood, try not to move. They changed the dressing on my neck but put one of those that must have superglue adhesive and I can't move my neck now! They are letting my hospital gown soak up the leak from the hole where the line comes out. Hope I can have some sort of bath when I get home tonight. In fact I may spend the next 2 days in the bath before I'm back in hospital on Weds!

Wren48 · 10/02/2014 15:34

Oh pickle that is not what you need. Keystone cops nursing. Lets hope they're nowhere near the chemo ward this week. Honestly. You sound incredibly calm... Yes, make the most of that bath. I might even have one tonight - first since my wound healed so quite exciting....

weebarra · 10/02/2014 17:22

oh pickle, that sounds seriously shite. Hope things are better now and you get that bath.

difficultpickle · 10/02/2014 17:32

I'm home now. Not allowed to bath tonight and frankly it is leaking so much I'm too scared to. Will have a bath in the morning before the district nurse comes. I've been allocated to the high tech team and to a district nurse I know (she did one of my blood tranfusions aa few weeks ago and is lovely and competent). Of course I called the district nurse team and they had no record of me. Seems to be par for the course at the moment. I'm so hoping that inpatient care is better (well it can't be worse than this!).

Other than that I feel fine. The sedation wore off quickly and I'm aching rather than in pain.

I have a weird question for those who have or have had Hickman lines. What did you wear in bed? Did you keep your bra on? I'm wondering about getting some maternity night bras to stop the chance of the tubes catching and getting pulled. I can't guarantee that this will be the last of my weird questions Smile
