Itchy sore on mothers heel

Hi was hoping you maybe able to help.

My mum aged 55 has an itchy sore on her heel. It's been there for at least 18months and she has previously been to the doctor about it who then referred her to the hospital who basically scraped it with a scalpel and said it's an old blister and made her feel as though she was a bit silly for worrying about it.

This sore is still itching her and she's complaining about it and rightly so but feels uneasy about going again to doctors about it but we said one of us will go along too incase she gets fobbed off again.

It is like a browny/black colour and like a scab. I have a picture but not sure how to upload on my phone?

I was just wondering if anyone could have any ideas of what it could be as we are thinking it must be more than just an old blister if it's still itching her. Obviously I have looked up skin cancer but I really am clueless and hoping for some help

I had something that sounds similar for ages (perhaps not quite as long though?) It was originally a blister, right on the back of my heel, but didn't seem to want to heal up. It was irritatingly itchy and I think because of this I scratched it and it just didn't get better. Eventually it did, I think it coincided with starting to go swimming regularly. Perhaps she could try soaking her foot in salt water to see if that helps?

Not a doctor, but could it be some kind of ulcer? My mum had a persistent itchy sore on her leg and was told it was this. They gave her steroid cream to clear it up. More recently my dad had a horrible itchy blister size spot on his ankle and self diagnosed and treated as ring worm . Turned out to be a skin infection for which he needed antibiotics. Sounds like your mum could definitely do with a 2nd opinion.
