Lump on fanjo - felt tired and unwell for 4 days

Today my labia has swollen on one side and there is a marble sized lump I can feel. It's sore and hot to touch.

I've been feeling unwell, tired and achy but no headache or sore throat the the last 4/5 days. Could the two be connected? My fanjo has only been sore today.

It seems a bit high up to be a bartholin's cyst.

It certainly sounds like you've got an infection. Can't help beyond that, I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon, though.

Mytimewillcomebutwhen · 01/02/2014 19:44

Sounds like an infected boil/abscess type thing. I had an infected lump-type event which made it almost impossible to walk with - very John Wayne stagger. I was utterly miserable and intended to visit doctor in the morning but it popped after a hot bath I think.

If you've a temp and an infection it may well need lancing and a course of antibiotics. How about phoning out of hours doc?

Does any of this seem feasible?

I had that, wasn't a Bartholins as on the wrong part of fanj, it grew to the size of a large marble and I felt terrible really fluey and ill, I was about to cart myself off to A&E (on holiday in Portsmouth) as I could hardly walk and it POPPED, within an hour I felt better.

The chance is yours may not burst on it own so get thee on the phone to NHS direct and maybe some AB's from OOH.

IAmNotDarling · 01/02/2014 19:55

Thanks all, sat with a hot flannel on it hoping it pops. If temp doesn't subside I'll ring NHS Direct. Have taken paracetamol.

OOH is crap in my county!

I've just had similar and it got quite big (it was a Bartholin's cyst). I had a temperature, was fluey and generally feeling rotten and run down. As well as that it was painful to walk, sit down, lie down etc.
Thank goodness for MN because I self diagnosed, went to the docs and got some medication for it and it's now gone.

HillyandHally · 01/02/2014 20:00

Abscess it sounds like.

I had to have mine treated under local anaesthetic at hospital it got that bad. Check and see if it has a "head" on it. You might need antibiotics as well. I ended up going to a &e and they admitted me straight away and were great.

Hope you feel better soon.

BelleateSebastian · 01/02/2014 20:09

Mine was actually black ... and the smell was unholy when it burst, it was in my nostrils for days! Good luck

IAmNotDarling · 01/02/2014 20:16

Hot flannel is relieving to pain and seems to be going down. I'll see how how I go on overnight.
