OMG! Bleeding nappy rash! Help me!

Changed DS earlier and saw his bum was red so put some cream on. (Was out so only had sudocrem with me)
Got home, noticed he had pooped so changed nappy and the red bit is now bleeding. He usually gets a sore bum with teething, as he is now, but it's never bled before.
I washed his bum in a warm bath rather than with baby wipes and have covered it in Metanium. I did leave nappy off but he weed on carpet. (duh!)
The blood came through the cream.

Should I leave nappy off? As I said, it's never bled before.

TIA... x

leave nappy off as long as you can and it'll scab over. it's horrible, but not unusual i don't think (happens to ds when he's teething too)

Hiya Tia

I would try leavin the nappy off for aslong as poss hun...perhaps an old tea-towel loosly covering his bits! (try to let the air to it)

Babywipes contain allsorts that can cause it to sting so id avoid them and just clean him with 'back to basics' cotton wool/pads & warm water.
How is he in himself?

1Baby1Bump · 30/07/2006 18:38

he is fine but when he poops he cries afterwards as it must sting.
he has the runs a bit atm which look a bit nasty. they look like new baby poops, yellow. this has been since he has started on cows milk. (he is 1 year)
in the heat, he wont eat much, just wants to drink milk which makes his bum worse.

aww bless him. Its hardwork for u too!

Just a thought...perhaps to bind him up abit....does he like scrambled egg? whenever any of my lot (mad lady who kept goin till i got a girl i.e 4) had a nasty nappy rash with the runs i found that egg acted the quickest on the digestive system.
Apart from that, I gave some calpol to take the edge of the pain too.

My son gets like this too, partly with teething, but mainly wheat allergy related. We relied on nappy free time, metainium and a cream called morhulin, which we got on prescription although I should imagine you could buy it. It contains cod liver oil. We used to put that on first and then metanium over the top, this worked a treat. Poor little man, I hope he feels better in the morning.

omg ladies! guess wat? its gone! almost.

i put the metanium on it, quite thick even tho it says thin coz i thought this has gotta last all night, and it is just a little pink patch. no scabs or bleeding or anything.
i expect its gonna flare back up tho as he still has this annoying trots thing.
it really stinks and seems really acidic, it just eats into him.
did this happen to anyone elses when going onto cows milk?
