My eye is in agony and there is a big red lump/spot thing just beside my tear duct (bottom) .

Is there anything that I can put on it to ease the pain / heal ? Salt water came to mind would that be ok ?

Salt water would be less painful than regular water.

Even better if you can make it to a late opening chemist you should be able to get cream to clear it up tonight.

I'm no doctor, but a warm damp tea bag soothes my eyes if they are inflamed. That does sound nasty though. I'd be getting that checked out.

Hot hot water, as hot as you can bear, on a flannel compress. This will draw the spot to a head and it should pop. Keep clean with diluted baby shampoo (a couple of drops in a mug full) and gently wipe with a cotton bud to stop infection.

Keep up the compresses and get some optrex infected eye ointment tomorrow.

I feel your pain :(

Salt water or breastmilk (if you have any).

Cold teabag- stick it in the fridge first.

You can buy a cream called golden eye from the chemist. For styes which may be what you have. But, till then agtee with the hot water compress and salt water eye bath.

SemperEadem · 21/01/2014 20:44

Definitely Golden Eye or Chloremphanicol

SugarMiceInTheRain · 21/01/2014 20:50

Salt water eye bath until you can get to a chemist. Breastmilk (when I was feeding) worked wonders for conjunctivitis on me and the baby. Have also used chloramphenicol and goldeneye ointment in the past, with success. I guess it depends on the cause of it, but saltwater would help in any case.

Thanks everyone . I'm sitting here with a salt-water-cotton-pad eye patch on .

Aarrrrrrr

I was going to say breast milk too. Not always possible to come by but legendary at dealing with conjunctivitis.

sublimecorpse · 21/01/2014 21:17

What side is it? Is the eye watery?

Magix · 22/01/2014 11:06

No not watery just a big swollen lump and a bit sticky . It's my left eye in the corner at my year duct .
