could mirena be cause of this bleeding??

I had a mirena inserted a couple of weeks ago. At the same time I had a hysterocopy to remove fibroids. I came off the pill a month before the op and finished my first natural period the day of the op. I was told I'd bleed for about a week after the op. I spotted for 2 weeks so called the hospital who said it was fine. Nearly 3 weeks now and still spotting. However, its got a bit heavier and more red, actually wondered if it was a light period. The mirena leaflet says you can spot for the first few months so now I'm wondering if it's that rather than the op? So sick of bleeding all the time, been bleeding for nearly a month what with having my period right before the op......

It could be. I bled for the first three weeks after having my mirena inserted, some days more heavily than others, and had spotting occasionally for the first few months.

Everything finally settled down about six months after insertion and since then I've only had spotting on a couple of occasions & I've had my mirena in for over three years now. Oh, the bliss of not having periods

I'd say it should settle down before too long, but if you are worried you should check with your doctor again for some reassurance.

Not everyone gets on with the mirena but for me it's been a life changer.
