Constant smell of smoke :(

I have had a really bad cough, which is just getting better now, 8 weeks later after a week of anti-bs. For about a week now I have this almost constant smell of smoke in my nose/mouth and its driving me potty. I hate smoking and it reminds me of when I was young and my parents used to smoke around me all the time. Ive tried nasal spray which doesn't really do anything. Its also affecting my taste. Has anyone had similar?

Not sure if its relevant but a few months back I had some really bad back pain which resulted in the outside of my right foot going numb (still is, doc not bothered) and, this might sound weird but I can now not eat turnip, eventhough it was one of my favourite veg. Not sure if it is all connected?

Thanks.

Silly, you definitely need to return to your gp and be reassessed.

I am planning to make an appointment, just wondering if anyone had similar?

I have heard of similar. Someone I knew thought she could smell burning rubber all the time.

Please go to your doctor and explain all these symptoms you've been having, even the ones you might think are inconsequential.

Urigellar, did they find out what it was? Ive googled it and it could be anything from a sinuses infection, to epilepsy to a brain tumor lol! I just thought if I'd just had anti-bs they would have cleared the infection, im pretty sure I dont have epilepsy and a brain tumor will be pretty rare, so im not panicking, just curious.

I've just swapped from microgynon to cerelle too, just writing down here while i'm on, then later will make a list to show doc of all symptoms etc.

(One of the googling said it could be allergies so maybe im allergic to cerelle?)

I sometimes get this when my sinuses are playing up. Could you have an infection there.

Athrawes · 19/01/2014 22:36

Watching. I have the exact same thing right down to the numb foot!
I too have googled and found the brain tumour thing so decided to ignore it.
I find it is worse when I stressed and/or hunched over marking books.

Please make an appointment tomorrow. It may be something or nothing. But don't put it off.

I've got an appointment in the morning, so will update, but I bet what you like, they will say "come back if it gets any worse" -thats all I ever hear from them!

Glad you have an appointment. Do come back & let us know how you got on.

Doctor is treating for a sinus infection 1st, got anti-bs (doxycycline) for a week and if not better in a week to go back for a referral (to specialist I assume)
