Title says it all really. Am scared, really scared. It's all happened so quickly too. Thought I was going in for a folow up hysteroscopy today as they couldn't complete the exam due to excessive bleeding after removing the polyp, but told, No, abnormal cells detected so need a D&C under GA, and sent for a pre op assessment. Date for procedure will be within next three weeks, told that fast growing things are generally bad (the polyp inquestion grew very very quickly) and endometrial cancer was mentioned. I've have had more than my fair share of major health issues in recent years; surely I can't be so unlucky as to have another one??? Talk to me please Sad

I'm sorry this is happening to you. It's terrifying and not to mention invasive when they're doing stuff to you and looking at you all the time.

I think you're fine when they're monitoring you. I think it's when you aren't aware of problem until it's bad. And of course if it was 'bad' they'd know now rather than 'suspect' and therefore (if it's the 'c' word) would be treated quickly and far easier than if it was advanced.

D&Cs aren't pleasant but you're probably used to all the 'messing' by now and I'd take comfort in the fact that they're on the ball with treating you.

Lots of luck.

Oh and something similar happened to me. It was cervical and my cells were abnormal. It was scary. I still have regular colposcopies and luckily only needed a biopsy to clear the cells...?

And in the middle of all this my coil got lost and after several painful failed attempts to find it, they had to fill my womb with warm saline and go fishing (bleh).

Thanks Anastasia. I am comforting myself with the fact that if it is cancer, then it will have been caught early. Doesn't stop the speculation and worry though!

I had an abnormal smear several years ago and went through the repeat smears route for several years, so in that respect I feel quite upbeat as it was fine before so can be again. Then I think, well can I be that lucky twice? I've also had a few other health issues in recent years; coeliac disease, depression, lupus...can I be that unlucky as to have something else?
