So, I am schedule to go through a sterilization procedure in a few weeks. I am 100% sure I do not want any more kids. However... I am getting very scared of the procedure....
I'm afraid I'll get a scar after escaping c-sections.
I'm afraid I will have something punctured, and end up with a serious condition.
I'm afraid I will have an even saggier tummy.
I'm afraid I will have to spent days out of comission after the procedure, which I really can't afford right now...

So, anyone has been throught it? How did it go? Should I be scared?

My coil didn't. I have the one without hormones in it as I can't have added hormones in my body due to breast problems - and I fell pregnant, then had a miscarriage.

No experience for sterilization itself but I had an endscopy with is very similar. Key holes surgery & general anestheic.
So for your question:
1- two very tinny scars, one of them is hardly visible because just on the edge of your belly button
2- there are some risk but not the same than an c-section!!!
3- no diffrence on your tummyThey use just 2 tiny tubes.
4- You should have a week of. I would advice to take it as I tried to go back to work after a couple of days and then had to go back home in pain. I was fine sitting on the sofa and doing little but was more unconfortable when I actually had to move around. Take it easy for the first few days.

FullOfTestosterone - I chose to be sterilised 12 years ago after birth of 4th child. I personally believe that women come naturally to the end of fertility where men do not, and I have my own thoughts about vasectomies!

I had mine done when DD was 3 months old and I was fully breastfeeding. I took 2 weeks off work although I probably could have been back earlier. Work as a midwife can involve heavy lifting so that is why I took 2 weeks.

I didn't have any problems with gas at all - it can cause shoulder tip pain. When I woke from the anaesthetic I was sore - I actually felt like i was having contractions. I fell back alseep again and when I woke I just had mild stomach pain. I went home the sam eday and spent 2 dyas in bed. I told DH to wait on me hand and foot, and to provide me with magazines and a box of Ferrero Rocher which he did

At least with female sterilisation it is immediate - no waiting for sperm to clear. A pregnancy test was done on the day of the op just to make sure. I had no problems what so ever and you cannot see the tiny scars (2)from the laparoscope.

They go in through your belly button so no scar there and one other place I think.
It won't effect your tummy.
It's done as day surgery and your home again that day.

I had mine done 3 months after last child.
Shows how good they are I can't even remember where the holes where.
I was home by tea time, fine by the following day.
