Will they let me have the x-rays?

I've asked the consultant whether I could have copies of the x-rays that were taken of ds - I offered to pay for them.

Haven't heard back yet, anybody any experience whether they're likely to let me have them?

I was given my xrays of my lumbar spine when they discovered a malformation simply because it was unusual and the Consultant thought it might prove useful in future should I need an epidural etc. This was because he said they destroyed xray records after a couple of years.

Dont see why they wouldnt tbh.

Not sure Em, sorry - you are entitled to copies of medical records but not sure if that includes x-rays. We have dd's which includes x-ray reports but no actual films.

Do you want to take them in order to get a second opinion? You are entitled to ask for one anyway.

I want to take them to Germany with me.

I used to work as a clerk in the x-ray department but that was going back a few years now. People did used to buy copies of their x-ray films. I believe in our local hospital now the system has changed quite a bit and everything is on computer now - I don't think they keep hard copies of x-rays anymore. Guess they would print a copy off now??
