Occasional heavy vaginal bleeding - not period

For the past couple of days I've been having what feels like a sudden heavy gush of blood sliding out - almost as if something has burst. It's happened twice a day and lasts for about half an hour. Then it stops completely.

I'm not due to get my period for another two weeks. They are usually very heavy with light bleeding in between. I have had ablation and it didn't help.

I have a doctors appt but can't get in until Tuesday. Definitely not pregnant. Anyone know what this is? I'm 40.

When did you last have a smear? Is it when you've had sex the night before (possible cervical erosion?)? I think only your doctor will be able to give you answers.
