I'm not sure the purpose of me posting this except for extreme frustration at waiting for results of an mri!!
I had a seizure at work a month ago. Was seen in a + e. They couldn't find a cause. Ct scan was 'unremarkable' whatever that means.
I have had a headache / neck ache for 2 months. And a left sided mild weakness / tingle occasionally. But following the seizure I do feel better than I did it swim. Im sick of waiting for some explanation. Mri was nearly 4 weeks ago

I had a seizure once, during a routine blood draw. It was a terrible draw, very scary. Afterwards I was a little confused, but recoved within an hour and had no other symptoms. That was about 22 years ago. Apparently it was caused by stress.

That may not help you at all, but there was no follow up, the doctor said it was completely due to the events of the draw, and they sent me on my merry way.

A friend of mine had a seizure when she was in her mid-30s. Came out of the blue in the middle of the day when we were just chatting and having a laugh. She was taken to hospital and they weren't overly worried about it. She had some follow up tests to be on the safe side and no cause or underlying problems were found and she's not had another seizure in over ten years.

Hope yours was just a one off too.

This happened to my brother about 15 years ago. He was in south America at the time. He doesnt remember it happening. He had tests and nothing showed up. Never had another seizure before or since. It dented his confidence for a bit but he's fine now. They do say that everyone could have a seizure at least once in their life without it signifying epilepsy. We still don't know why my brother had his.

Oh thank you all for replying! I see neurologist on Thursday but the waiting has done me in!
The seizure was the most terrifying thing ever. I was sure I was going to die as I came to choking the on my saliva (tmi)
Hopefully it's nothing...but then it kind of leaves you thinking when or if it will happen aga in. Will keep you posted.

This happened to my friend's DH, when he was in his early 20s, no cause ever found and 10 years later has never happened again. He did lose his driving licence for several years though.

3bunnies · 07/01/2014 20:18

I had a seizure 10 mins after a hepatitis B vaccine. Not had a reoccurrence. GP put it down to the vaccine and my family history of reactions to vaccines.

AnnaBullerby · 07/01/2014 20:21

holstenlips - my friend's seizure was bloody terrifying to watch! She didn't lose her license, so don't go worrying about that.

Take care and let us know how you get on.

I had a seizure in hospital after a major operation. I don't remember anything at all about it and have never had anything similar before or since. I had to have an MRI and EEG and it took four months for the neurologist to put it down as a one-off. Absolute hell, especially the not driving bit. I really feel for you OP.

honeybeeridiculous · 07/01/2014 20:24

DD had a seizure out of the blue, no cause found, all tests normal, MRI, EEG etc then 2 months later had another one, she is now on medication and (touchwood) hasn't had any more,
She wasn't allowed to drive for a year and still has check ups but is fine now,
Hope your ok OP Thanks

holstenlips · 07/01/2014 21:10

Yes Anna, the poor bloke from work who drove me to hospital thought I was going to die. He cried the whole time!
Nobody's told me anything yet. My Gp tried to get the mri results but failed. I guess I will find out on Thursday. I feel pretty ok now. I'm used to the headache it's been so long.

honeybeeridiculous · 07/01/2014 21:44

It is a shock holsten it's not nice to see, my other DD was really traumatised as she witnessed it all,
Incidentally, DD had a headache for 2 weeks after hers and was achey and a bit spaced out for a few days, it's a truly scary thing, I wish you well x

holstenlips · 09/01/2014 16:24

Just to update: mri showed chiari malformation. Anyone got one of these?

OP posts:
AnnaBullerby · 09/01/2014 20:23

Well, after Googling it, I've managed to convince myself I've got about 50% of the symptoms Confused

Have the doctors suggested what treatment you might have?

How are you feeling?

holstenlips · 10/01/2014 17:00

Treatment is pain relief until it gets really bad then its surgery to remove piece of bone.
im in a lot of pain head neck and shoulders tbh

holsten - sorry, only just seen that you replied to me. I hope they get your meds sorted so that you get some relief from the pain and that it won't be long before they can sort the problem out properly.
