...can you remember how old your kids were when you first took them to the doctors, aside from routine checks/baby clinic, and why you took them?

I took dd first at 18m. I remember only because they assumed they'd lost her notes as she didn't have any! She was there as I thought she may have an ear infection (turned out to be teething)

Ds went much sooner with a sticky eye that just wouldn't clear with breast milk etc.

ds went at 15 mths for acute and severe tonsilitis which ended up with him going into hospital for 2 nights.
DD well from day dot she has been in and out of a million dr's offices.. . the first query was being referred by midwofe for poor weight gain - rare syndrome and all the investigations that entails, but she is perfectly well, infact I think she is healthier than ds on the whole!

dd1 was 10days old, had a horrible cold and couldnt feed as was bunged up.

dd2 was about 1month old, she kept being sick.

dd3 was errrrrrr, about 2weeks old, for the same reason as dd1 they were both given nasel drops so they ould feed.

DS1 11 days - out of sorts, grizzly, sore red patch on buttock. Admitted to hospital with streptococcal cellulitis, transferred to PICU and then on ward for 10 days.

DS2 - 9.5 weeks, coughing and couldn't feed properly. Admitted to hospital for 5 days with bronchiolitis.

I've taken them since for all sorts of trivial reasons, but the first ones turned out not to be time wasters at all!

dd's first doctor's appt was when she was 10 days old (oral thrush) and her second was when she was 2.5 or thereabouts; she had winter vomiting. Different GP but he was shocked that he had never seen her.

ds was about 7 weeks old, had a horrible cold/cough but obviously GP couldn't do anything. The next time he saw the doctor was when he was about 13 months old, had a chest infection and so did dd.

That was about 1.5 years ago.

ds2 was about 8 hrs old!

He was born at 1 am, I wanted an immediate discharge from the labour ward, and they said it wasn't possible in the middle of the night, and I had to go up to the ward, but there would be no problem me going at 9 am. But at 9am they said we couldn't go without baby being checked my paed. When I had ds1 we hung about for 6 hrs waiting for a paed, and I didn't want to do it again. So we made a fuss, and in the end they agreed we could go as long as we went to see the GP on the way home for her to check the baby.

The GP was delighted to see him, especially as I'd been in to see her 16 hrs earlier complaining that I was starting to get fed up and there was no sign of imminent labour
