Don't laugh...... But my bottom hurts like I've just been on a long bike ride...

.... But obviously I haven't. Not constipated, not sex related. Any ideas? I suffer really badly with health anxiety so have convinced myself that it's something awful........ Thanks

Hi Gary, thanks for replying. Nothing's changed. I'm menopausal - no period for a year now ( am 48) so wonder if it's related to that , or muscle related.

Piles can give that feeling, also as you are meno could it be a prolapse I am 47 and my bladder has prolapsed and my rectum today is also aching when I stand up, so I am thinking either my bladder prolapse is making my bum ache or my rectum has decided to prolapse to, all this has happened with being meno. I have a general rule of thumb if it's still there after two weeks then go to the gp.

Do a search for "javelin arse" on mumsnet - very common, loads of us get it! Really bizarre. It's period related for me too but I'm nowhere near menopausal.

DeepThought · 28/12/2013 20:39

Yep stabby arse

iirc it implicates endometriosis as a possible cause

Mirandasbestmate · 28/12/2013 20:49

Well javelin arse is a new one! I went for a run today & it's a bit worse ao am now thinking its muscle related. No pain in my abdominal area thank goodness-what does a prolapse feel like?!

Hi I am experiencing something similar. Can I ask how long you have had it as mine has been going on for just over a week. Started period a week ago so was hoping it would go by now. I described just the same as the discomfort after a long bike ride!
