I have burst a blood vessel in my eye

The NHS website says it'll clear up on its own "within a few weeks" - that sounds like a long time!

Anyone feel like saying "I had this and it went away quite quickly"?

I had it for a couple of weeks, it looked less scarey after the first week but family and colleagues were horrified. I think I got mine after a fight with some shampoo.

Hmm, do you think I can get people to do things for me by claiming that my "poorly eye" means that I have to be looked after?

People think there is some dramatic story behind it - perhaps make one up to gain sympathy!

DH had this caused by violent vomiting. It faded after a few days to the point that it was unnoticeable. It looked slightly yellow for a couple of weeks, but not alarming and nobody but us would have noticed.

That sounds a bit better.

I can feel it this morning - it's like having a bruise, I think, only it gets moved around a bit every time I move my eye, so I can feel it quite often.

I had it from vomiting too. It looked very dramatic for a few days but then faded quite quickly.

I had one about a year ago, just the same. I went to the optician to get it checked and she said it would go away after a couple of weeks, it stayed the same for a week or two then gradually shrank and disappeared over the course of another week or so. No one noticed all that much because I had to wear my "very strong prescription make your eyes almost invisible" glasses instead of contact lenses for the duration.

I noticed one yesterday panicked as am on prednisolone
pharmacist said only to worry if it gets bigger or sore. Apparently it can happen coughing or blowing your nose too hard when you have a cold too.

I had one from the strains of childbirth. Got a bit better/smaller every day and I'm sure it was completely gone after two weeks (14 years ago so am slightly vague).

I've had a few.

They usually fade in a week or so.

I had this a couple of years ago, don't know why but GP said it would fade and it did, after about a week. Hope yours goes soon too, and the discomfort - I used dark glasses first few days.

Mine was a sneeze . The worst of it was faded after a few days

I had it twice.
Second one just before a long haul flight such worried me a lot.
It went away on its own.

I can't feel it any more, but it's still there and still red.

A few people have noticed but none have gone "OMG your eye!"
