I've woken up this morning with a throbbing pain in my ear.

Strangely its not inside its on the outer bit (pinna) and its so painful Sad

I can try for emergency appointment today but I'm 44 not a kid so feel guilty taking their time up.

What do you think?

Yes get one..outer infections are very sore..They can pack it and give you ear drops..They won't begrudge you an appt for that..is one of the most painful things ever.

Most definitely

Don't feel guilty, you are in pain, they are there to help

And get well soon

tribpot · 22/12/2013 08:43

Yes - you don't know how the pain is going to progress. Hopefully it will subside but if it doesn't ... best get it looked at.

You can find your nearest Walk-In Centre on NHS Choices, about half way down there's a search option.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Yes. Ear infections are evil.

Hopefully you'll be feeling much better by the end of the day.

I did with very severe earache and then had to make emergency docs appt for a Monday morning as pain got worse and worse - severe inner ear infection/ perforated eardrum in the end. Was given strong painkillers and antibiotics. Deep sympathy - I was off my head the pain was so bad.

How are you doing, OP?
