Sticky out belly button!

My DD of 10 months has a very sticky out belly button. It tends to stick out more as the day goes on and it's not helped by the fact that DD seems to pull at it a lot! Worried that it might be a little hernia, although health visitor says not. Any similar experiences?

my dd is 7mhts and belly button sticks out looks like a little willy..lol Not a hernia though as it is soft and not painful...I had umbilical hernia as a child and remember it being very painful when it was swollen and tender...so far dd has no sign of this..jus tlooks odd cosmetically iykwim.

mine have had sticky outy belly buttons when they were smaller, and still do to some extent. My HV just said it is where (with mine at least) they don't have any real fat on their tummys and so tis mainly muscle, causing belly buttons to look more pronounced. A bit like when at the end of pregnancy most ladies belly buttons stick out too, IYSWIM??

psaychomum how far did they stick out??? MY dds sticks out about 1.5inches but then other times goes back in.

Thanks for sharing your stories. Makes me feel much better! My DD is very slim (a fussy little eater who still refuses formula milk and turns her nose up at any puds I put in front of her!) so perhaps if and when she has a little more fat in the tummy area, her belly button will lie a little flatter. Shall go to bed tonight with one less worry on my mind!

curtaintwitcher....never measured to be honest, altho enough to be seen under t-shirts, just not that much IYKWIM...?

your LO must look pretty cute but it may be worth checking. Not all umbilcal hernias are painful...DD2 has a mild one, and hers was sorted by age one (by itself too, never enough to even consider surgical intervertion). In fact, I never thought anything of it sticking out, not even that it was worryable as DD1's was identical. Doc said it was tho....never comented on the others tho, Confused, altho they were all like it!. still stuckout, just not as much and was never hard or painful. Did stick out more when she was crying tho!

lol psychomum sounds like dds but as it isnt causing any discomfort wont worry about it yet...hv did comment on it on monday as it was having a particularly sticky out day although she had not long eaten a big breakfast..lol
