Hot headed baby

My 10 month old daughter has always had a very hot little head, especially when breastfeeding, but now that the temperatures are soaring she is getting even hotter and her hair is constantly damp and her head and face incredibly clammy, she's like this seconds after having a bath too. I'm running out of ideas to keep her cool. Is this normal? Does anyone else have any similar experience.

My Ds gets warm when feeding so I lie a towel between his neck and my arm which helps ! Have you taken her temperature just in case she is not well ? When Ds had a temperature I put a wet face cloth on his head to cool him down HTH x

Hi Daisydot, My 2.10 ds and 12 month ds both have very hot heads too.....I'm always washing the pillow cases....I think it;s just something some babies suffer from although worth taking temperature just incase she's coming down with a bug. Let's hope this heat eases off soon

Thanks for sharing your stories. It's always nice to know that I'm not the only mum of a baby with a hot head! DD has had a very hot little head since the age of about 6 months. It's particularly noticeable when she's feeding - even when feeding on a chilly day. I hope this sticky humid weather goes away soon. It's too hot to think! Roll on the autumn....

Hi Daisydot, my 10 month old also has a really hot, sweaty head, constantly, even when it's relatively cool. She's having a hairwash every night at the moment but it's like it straightaway again. I think some babies are just sweaty!!!

Quick hijack, how are you getting on with the thyroxine? Has it made a difference? I've been wondering how you were since that thread.

Not sweaty but GLOWING babies... My 12 months DD is one of them too, and her hair is looking always so wet and very very curly but because of the heat she is now getting heat rash on her shoulders and few spots on her head... We are having her 1st birthday tomorrow, so I hope she will have less spots. I keep her without a shirt during the day and night, give her cool baths, but nothing really seem to work (but I don't wish for the weather to change!!!).

Olihan, Can't believe we're now in October and I'm only just replying to your mail of July!!! Where does the time go? Grace was 1 last week and I'm now back to work (boo hoo.)

In answer to your question I'm feeling much better on the thyroxine. Glad I decided to take it. Had I not, I think I would be laid in an exhausted heap by now!

Grace still has a hot little had, especially when feeding (I'm still breastfeeding mornings and evenings and sometimes during the day when I'm at home.)

Lovely to be back at mumsnet and hope to pop back again soon.
