Reducing prednisolone dose, mood swings, irritability and fatigue

I have been on Prednisolone for six weeks started on 40mg coming down by 5 mg a week but since I came down to 15mg last Friday I am so tired and irritable. My poor Dc!!

I am taking it foe Ulcerative Colitis and also have a lowish Ferritin of 41mg, Hb is 12.

that sounds normal. sorry . the taper can be worse than the high dose. hope you feel better soon

Thanks Merci, I just don't fancy feeling so irritable all over Christmas but I haven't got much choice.

Sounds a very fast taper to me could you slow it down a bit maybe? Or another thing I've been told to alternate dies each day for a week before drop.
I'm also tapering at the moment and have got down to 25 but symptoms dreadful today so going back up to 30 tomorrow.

I was on these a few years ago and felt dreadful tapering off at the rate the docs advised. I reduced them twice as slowly as they advised and still had to go back up to the last amount. Take it really slowly and fingers crossed you will manage to be off them soon x
