Cradle cap in 2+year old

My ds is 3 in October and he still has cradle cap despite me using Detinox shampoo regularly. I don't really think about it very much but I did read something on the internet the other day that is usually goes by 2 years old. Have any of you had children with cradle cap beyond 2 years old? If so, did you do anything special about it.

I use a plastic nit comb to help get rid of it. After washing my ds2's hair i gently comb it through. He used to have a lot of it but now it is limited to couple of small patches.

Hi, thanks for the response. I'm not keen on using a comb as DS gets hysterical when he sees one. I can only get near him with a hair brush.

for what it's worth mumtoone, the homeopath that I see about other things says not to use Dentinox (or similar) as it surpresses it rather than getting rid of it.
16 month old DD has it quite bad and the best thing I'm finding is to rub it gently with the towel while it's still damp and then comb, comb, comb!
I can see that it is starting to come out now but very slowly. I'm going to make the most of being on holiday next week with DD wearing a hat all the time and rub lots of olive oil in every day and massage her scalp gently.
I'm sure using a brush will help too though if you're DS doesn't like a comb.

Mumtoone - my ds has just turned 3 and still has some cradle cap.

I'm not really doing a great deal about it as for one thing he becomes completely hysterical if he so much as thinks I'm going to wash his hair so special shampoos etc aren't much of an option! I do brush his hair everyday, obviously, and a couple of times a week I use one of those spray-on, leave-in conditioners (if I can pin him down for long enough!)

I pierce a vit E capsule and rub the oil in,then shampoo out 12 hours later.

My daughter is 3 and a half a still suffers. I can get it all out and by the next morning it is back. The Doctors have told me that they wont worry until she is 5 years old.

The nitty gritty comb is amazing for cradle cap... any way one could read a story while you do it?

Oooh, or DD would consent to very conditioned hair, laying with head on my lap whilst she had a bottle and watched tv of her choice.
