Over here for the hand holding.
One in five women in the uk will have to have a hysterectomy at some point in their lives.
Come and join us if you are waiting, pre op, bleery eyed on the ward or recovering afterwards.

HELP I have a yellow discharge. No other symptoms, what could that be?
I'm scared.

Ledkr · 09/02/2014 20:23

Ok I just googled and it seems common, many dds say it's stitches dissolving but it always seems to be at around the same time.

How fucking weird? It's not infection it reminds me of the yellow medicine the kids get and it's just when I wipe (tmi)

gingeme · 09/02/2014 22:03

Google is many à splendid thing Smile

Ledkr · 09/02/2014 22:12

Yes but such a random thing and loads of people have it!

gingeme · 09/02/2014 22:59

Yes amazing isnt it ? You think your the only one. Grin

LackaDAISYcal · 10/02/2014 18:37

A quick check in from me. Had my D&C today and feeling a bit rough.

Talked to the doctor beforehand, and asked about the removal of my mirena. She said she would be happy to put another one in, however if she found anything that indicated it would mean it to be a waste of time, she wouldn't replace it as the funding manager wouldn't sanction it.

So, she talked to me in recovery. the polyp I had removed was an endo-cervical polyp and she mentioned some thickening at it's base which she has removed for further biopsy. She also noted an thickened area of endometrium the top of the uterus. Said she didn't put the coil back in as she wanted to wait for the results of the biospy. She mentioned the possibility of further surgery and that she would be passing all my information to the gynae oncology nurse so she could chase up the results prior to my outpatients appointment which will be within two weeks. I was a bit too out of it to take it all in.

When the staff nurse discharged me she went through the doctor's notes with me (doctor herself was unavailable). The doctor's notes said something along the lines of A1 or 1A architectural changes to the endocervix (or endometrium??? can't remember), evidence of endometrial hyperplasia, biospy on cancer pathway with referral to oncology nurse and follow up no later than two weeks. Dr Google is freaking me out, as usual, and combined with the non insertion of another mirena has me very worried indeed. Is things were OK, she would have put the mirena back in surely? I am trying to take it in my stride, but I think it's going to be an anxious 2 week wait Sad

Ledkr · 10/02/2014 19:17

Oh sweetie. How worrying for you.
I've had lots of scares which seem to absolutely be the end but it never has been though.
Can you get anymore info from the consultant?

shewhowines · 10/02/2014 19:33

They are looking at the worst case scenario, hence the urgency. It does not mean that anything sinister will be found. They are just covering themselves.
The wait will be awful because your imagination will be working overtime. Try not to worry - easier said than done Thanks

LackaDAISYcal · 10/02/2014 20:15

Aw Thanks, flowers gladly accepted

I may try and call him in a day or two once my file gets back to the Big Toon hospital. The procedure was farmed out to a gynae outpost in a small county town so it wasn't my usual consultant.

The thing that gets me is that she said she would be happy to put a mirena back in even if it would need to be removed soon, unless there was something obvious that would mean there was no point. Which makes me think there was something obvious that meant there was no point. Will try and stay away from Dr Google though. If I google 1A and abnormal endocervix/endometrial cells I get info on cancer staging Confused

Hello everyone - wish I'd found this thread months ago! I'm in France & had a vaginal hysterectomy last summer after heavy AF for years & been diagnosed as severely anaemic. They diagnosed me & got me in & operated within a month. I've kind of coped OK, but last week (so over 6 months post op) I bled quite a lot after DH & I had had sex. Anyone else? Was a bit alarming, but no pain & I feel as if I had enough medical probing down there to last a long time without going back to the Dr for any more. tia for any comments.

LackaDAISYcal · 10/02/2014 22:21

Hi Jen

Not an expert, but I would definitely get it checked out. there is some info here on the hystersisters website

Welcome to MN :)

jenpetronus · 11/02/2014 07:41

Thanks LackaDAISYcal. Great site too Smile

shewhowines · 11/02/2014 14:38

hi jen Welcome
You should have healed up by now. I'd talk to the doctor if I were you. At my last check (4.5 months) the doctor said I was completely healed. So any unexplained bleeding, you should get checked out!

lack Definitely stay away from Dr Google. Even now I am cancer free, I won't go anywhere near it, as it scares you witless.
Even if it is worst case scenario then 1A is very, very early stages isn't it. Mine was early stages but I think it was much further advanced than that. I'm fine now and didn't need chemo or radiotherapy. And they are guessing anyway. It is likely to be all fine, just changes that could develop, if left untreated. I hope that ramble is reassuring rather than scaring you further.

I got low dose sleeping tablets when I couldn't sleep for worrying. Could that be an option if you need it?
Fingers crossed for you.

gingeme · 11/02/2014 16:40

Hi ladies. I have my appt tommorrow at 10.20. I have written a few questions to ask but is there anything I need to push ? Ive got nighties and slip slop slippers ready and big nickers and my health insurance form for the doctor to fill in.

Ledkr · 11/02/2014 17:58

You jinxed me!
Dh and I had a good shag but if fun last night and today I've got pink blood and my tummy button scar really hurts!!

jenpetronus · 11/02/2014 17:59

Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread so not sure exactly what you're having - but I'd add something to read too, there's a lot of lying around afterwards. Good luck, be over before you know it.

jenpetronus · 11/02/2014 18:04

Argh! Sorry to hear that Ledkr (but I did snort for a second when I read your post!) It did stop within 24 hours & I had no pain. Think I'll email the GP and get her view...

gingeme · 11/02/2014 18:26

Jen its just my assessment (sp?) appointment Smile

Ledkr · 11/02/2014 18:33

Think the pain is just my scars and blood is just pink and light. I'm enjoying sitting in my arse though!

Twinkletights · 11/02/2014 19:35

Welcome wellcoveredspareribs I am now three weeks post LSTH. For the first week I pretty much rested but did manage to shower and potter about. The second week I was able to go for short walks but it was uncomfortable. By week 3 I am able to walk for over an hour a day which I think is helping me to recover. I think that rest is really important and listen to your body it will tell you when you have done too much.
Ledkr that is great news from your consultant. I have no clue what to say with regards to HRT, I have not thought about it yet and am hoping that the ovaries will last me a few more years yet. Hopefully your consultant will do some blood tests next month so you know where you are at with your hormones.
Lackadaisy you have has such a roller coaster of a journey, I agree with stepping away from google but my thoughts are with you. Two weeks seems like such a long time when you are waiting for results
Welcome also to Jen I would advise you to see your GP/Gynae with your symptoms
Gingeme I hope that all goes well tomorrow for you, my only advise would be to be honest especially when discussing the affect that this is having on your everyday life. Lest us know how you get on.
kingfisher and she so pleased to hear that you have both made such good recoveries

I feel like I have turned a corner here and am starting to feel a lot better, although I tried to drive yesterday and today and my tummy is protesting. It looks like the next operation is booked for just under two weeks time, just waiting for confirmation from the hospital. I am really not looking forward to that.

fullasagun · 11/02/2014 21:00

Hi all - those of you who are recently back behind the wheel - did you speak to your insurance company first? Do you have to?

gingeme · 11/02/2014 21:26

Thankyou twinkle Smile

Twinkletights · 11/02/2014 21:49

fullasagun I think that it depends on your insurance company and policy. I didn't call them this time because the information that I was given previously was that it was okay when the Dr was happy for to drive, which he was.
There is some good information on the RCOG website in the recovering well leaflets for hysterectomies which outline what you need to be able to do before you can drive safely. The physio at the hospital also went through this with me.

dyzzidi · 11/02/2014 21:56

Hello I'm back total hystorectomy done on Friday I'm now home and slowly recovering. Hope everyone is well x

fullasagun · 11/02/2014 22:33

Ah thanks Twinkle, I'll not see the doc for another 2 weeks (for my 6 week check) so I'll check out that website - thanks - and call my insurance tomorrow.

Hi dyzz, hope you're recovering well.
