Very painful small lump on roof of mouth

Would anyone have any idea what this could be?

I have a small swelling at the very back on the right side of the roof of my mouth. Having taken a pic of it (like you do!) it doesn't look like much although it is red.

It's bloody sore! A bit like that swallowing glass feeling you get with a throat infection but it's not my throat. I've had it a couple of days and it seems to be getting worse.

Any ideas? And I take it this is a dentist job rather than gp?

Tia!

I can't get on your profile to see the pic. I would agree you need a dentist not a GP. Changes in the mouth are of most concern if they persist longer than 10 days or grow rapidly.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't actually put the photo on my profile - it's the most unflattering photo I've ever seen of myself and that's saying something!

It's only been a few days but I suppose I should go to the dentist as it's really quite painful.

Right, I've been brave and put the picture on my profile! It's at the back on the left of the picture - you can't really see the lump but you can see the red bit. I promise my teeth do not look quite so bad from a normal angle!

Definitely go to the dentist, even if only for reassurance. Especially with Christmas coming up you don't want to have pain when dental practices are closed.

Will do thank you!
