Areole lump, followed by...tmi...help!

Hi all,

A number of days ago I noticed a red spot type patch on the outer edge of my areole. I squeezed it thinking it was a hair follicle and pus/blood came out (sorry). I now have a brown scab and it hurts. Google has scared me. Any advice/experience?

It sounds like a spot to me. Can you tell is the lump fixed and solid or more movable? If the scab doesn't clear up soon then perhaps see your Dr or practice nurse.

I have never had a spot followed by a scab. There was no lump as such.

Well there would normally be some kind of scab after you had squeezed it and made it bleed.

There was very little blood...more pus/discharge. Do you think it's nothing to worry about? I think the location together with dr Google has frightened me.

I hate bloody google - the amount of times I have scared myself witless looking up my symptoms - I know how you feel. I have had discharge from the nipple area before too and my Dr was able to reassure me. The chances are yours is nothing to worry about too ibut a quick visit to the nurse could just put your mind at rest.
