small blistery rash

ds2 has a patch (about 3 cm wide) of tiny angry red blisters. they are two or three cm each. they have been there two days and are getting worse. He has his four year check on friday - should I wait or call today?

where's the rash?

on his hip - to start with it looked exactly like the irritation from a rubbing nappy - except he doesn't wear them! It is bothering him. He just got up ( we are USA) and when I asked to look at it this morning he REALLY wouldn't let me touch it

are they def blisters - ie fluid-filled - rather than spots?

they are clear and shiny

but the area is really red

insect bites?

but then i am a first time mum who has taken her ds to a&e when he just had a viral bug

Sounds a bit like molluscum - they tend to appear as patches of shiny red blisters. Do the spots have a dimple in the middle, or a head?

don't look like bites.

I'll call when they open - I rarely take them to the dr - but this rash looks strange and very angry - it has also grown in the last couple of days and shows no sign of clearing up

molloscum contagiosum. it's a viral infection, no treatment (iirc) and takes about 2 years to go. dd2 has them.

Definitely sounds like molluscum.

Dd had it when she was a few months old, she had it for about six months and it just disappeared overnight. But phillip is right - it can last up to two years.

just ggogled - I think thats it - really gutted - his skin looks terrible!!! worried about it spreading and all the others getting it. We go to the pool everyday in summer - the children generally ashare towels!!!..or did

don't worry about swimming - we still went all the time but I did put ds in one of those sun suit things (his were from under his arm to his hip, right down the side of his chest) because otherwise I kept touching them and so did all the other kids!

just been reading more - it transfers wher there are abrasions etc - Ds has eczema - does this mean it could transfer to all those sore bits?

dd2's are in her armpit...no abrasions there

it didn't go on ds's eczema patches but it did spread a bit (so it started with a few under his arm and then a few months later he had several other crops just underneath) - don't know if it spreads when they scratch them

ds's eventually went all red and then burst (and were very bloody) - but this was obviously a sign because after they did that, they disappeared!

Thanks everyone - will ask the dr on friday - but not bother before. Will be giving ds2 his own sprecial towel at the pool from now on. Hope it doesn't look this angry and red for too long. it looks very sore

been to the doctors with him today - for his 4 year check - he has shingles!!!
